I yarn paint with my elementary students every year and discuss the Huichol people! Their use of color is unmatched and on another level! I must admit I ❤️ Mexican Art! 🧶🎨✅👍🏻

The artists of the indigenous peoples never cease to amaze me, whether it's a weaving, a painting or some pottery they make it incredible.

The influence of their psychedelic art style comes from consuming peyote (a cactus containing mescaline) in their traditional practices. After experiencing such vibrance, seeing so many different colors and patterns, they want to share with the world what they see during their experience(s). Native Americans also have practices involving peyote, which could be an influence on some of their clothing and art as well. It's beautiful, knowing that so much of this art stems from their own spiritual experiences! 😁

I suspect this stuff is being forged in India. My lady friend just paid £150 for a "Huichol painting" & it arrived from India as a print on cotton.

I did not know about it, it is very sad that these handicrafts are being counterfeited. I'm very sorry for your friend
