At 2:33 the rain falls and the windshield wipers start up. Still remember being amazed, when this arcade game first was released, by the level of detail with the Sonic Keychain and interior dash view of this rarely seen Sega Arcade racer.
Actually that statement is actually a common misconception. The first ever game the blue blur appeared in was a game that was called "The Adventures of Quik and Silva". The game is extremely rare because it used many licensed characters without the character creators consent like they used Mario, Megaman, and of course Sonic. The company got sued and the game was removed off store shelves and is extremely rare nowadays
Unfortunately, the +90 auto-center make these settings more like digital input. I hope to one day find a better way to approximate the car's handling, but until then, at least the game is playable.
This is my favorite early 90s arcade game, I love music, car sprites, car microwave sound, opponent car fart noises, and the fat policeman. (The audio is littlebit off)
When the car air freshener in the Taxi I drive was swinging about the other day, it reminded me of this and thought they should sell plastic Sonic air fresheners. Most people know Mario debuted in Donkey Kong but far less know this game was Sonic's.
remember this game being on the movie i rented from my locak vhs rental store, california man with a very young brendan fraser,in fact im sure it was his first ever big movie that got his career off the ground, great movie but back to the game, only ever played it once.
James Fabiano Try using MAME cheats to get infinite time and try to be arrested by the cops three times on each stage starting from Provo, then Cheyenne, and then Kansas City.
Gamevet I think so, but I don't know if anyone's found a good way to configure it for one yet. There weren't any instructions on how to configure it for a gamepad either. I had to fool around with that myself.
First try grabbing the latest version of the ROM from someplace like EmuParadise. I have no idea why, but the ROM sets are always revised with each new version of MAME. If you're using an old ROM with the latest version, that might be your issue. If that doesn't work, try grabbing an older version of MAME to play this on. MAME 0.148 is what I used in this video. Hopefully one of those two solutions will work for you. :)
Saturn Memories Especially System 24/32 which was unknown to alot of people...they can make money...Add Moga Pro Support and send it to iOS/Android..Its not hard..

God I loved this game. I was lucky to have played the motion version of the arcade version.

Anyone here remember Encino Man? This was how Brendan Fraser's character learned how to drive lol
Sekiria23 I saw encino man last night. So hilarious. 😄
Instablaster.
Thanks for the tips on MAME settings... I've tried a few times unsuccessfully and was hoping someone else had found the magic combination!
Thanks for posting this. I played this for the first time at Disneyland ages ago. It blew my mind at the time. Great to see it again.
Ben Estabrook I first played it around 1994. My local YMCA had a standup cabinet. Still my favorite racing game to this day.

Finally, I found this old gem of mine
its pretty amazing how they achieved 3d view with out using polygons.

Encino Man!
I used played rad mobile when I young I hope rad mobile arcade in ps2 or PS3
when the cars pass by it sounds like they are making that buzzing sound with their lips LOL!
I love that the border of Michigan is just a bunch of oil refineries and nuclear power plants (and palm trees??) haha
jeremysart You're telling me that's not an accurate representation of Michigan? ;)
I've been there many times. Michigan indeed has a lot of factories.
Rad Mobile! Hi! I'm Troy McClure...
RAD MOBILE
15:15 what's the cop saying?
James Fabiano Sounds like "Hey! What's behind this reckless driving?!"
When u get arrested two times, the cop will pull out a pistol and kill you.
***** Video or not real.
James Fabiano Try using MAME cheats to get infinite time and try to be arrested by the cops three times on each stage starting from Provo, then Cheyenne, and then Kansas City.
In Rad Rally and Gale Racer, the cop's line is different he says "Hey! Get outta there now!" or something like that.
master!!
Does this support a racing wheel in MAME?
Gamevet I think so, but I don't know if anyone's found a good way to configure it for one yet. There weren't any instructions on how to configure it for a gamepad either. I had to fool around with that myself.
Hi, I'm Troy McClure. You may know me from such video games as Escape From Clown Planet and Rabbits From Outer Space...
Yahhhhoooooo!

追突したら「アッサム!」というのが笑えます😄
SPEAK ENGLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This game was AMAZING! Too bad it never got a proper home console port :(
malcolmar Just Gale Racer... :\
Yeah, too bad. The original scaling sprites had a charm of their own. Too bad they where "updated" to polygons in Gale Racer :(
malcolmar Just the other cars. The rest of the game still uses scaling sprites.
+Saturn Memories Yeah but Gale Racer was horrible
But the 3D was slow and it ran bad on Sega Saturn. Should of been a direct port.
sprite scaling games aged so much better than the early polygon based games that succeeded them
All that happens when I launch this in Mame is just a crash

Saturn Memories does this work with retropie on pi3
Encino Man brings me here.
sonic?
1st time seeing this game. The cop chasing is a little intrusive and kinda unnecessary, but game seems fun overall.
Hey you, pull over!
Wat of u drive normal speed past the cop, will they still pull u over?
Only if you're black.
... You missed the shortcuts :)
You can't get the true ending if you take them.
Now I know thanks...
manda a Room pra mim por favor
RAD MO' BEER
olha o sonic
is that ending supposed to be this trans agenda thing everybody's talking about
Sega is such a failure company now..So many great IP, they can't even port this game to mobile.
Kinda agree. They really don't make game I enjoy anymore, and the ports we do get are few and far between.
Saturn Memories Especially System 24/32 which was unknown to alot of people...they can make money...Add Moga Pro Support and send it to iOS/Android..Its not hard..
There just an ignorant company
