I’m a culinary student in New York. I did an internship at SingleThread which is where I discovered you. I love the way you speak about not only the food, but the chefs and their art. Bravo and thank you.
Is single thread a good place to work? I spent a couple days at Alinea in Chicago and it was so cutthroat it kind of turned me off to three stars but i haven’t worked at any since
The best most magical meal I've ever had. The service was unbelievable. As we left a taxi was waiting to take us back to the b&b we were staying at. I can't even remember telling them where we were staying. I tried to keep the menu secret from my partner but had a cheeky look when she went to the toilet. They came back with a brand new one in an envelope so as not to spoil the surprise for her. Unbelievable 😊
I had my 50th birthday here, enjoying the "chef's table" experience at the Aulis development kitchen. Stunning experience from start to finish. The little details like not being given the menu until the end of the meal, and the parting gift of a shiso plant was just a perfect finishing touch. Clearly this is not a cheap experience, but if you want the ultimate whole dining experience in the UK, it's worth adding to your bucket list.
What an incredible spread and their farm is amazing! I had no idea there were so many types of edible greens🌱 I also appreciate that more of these fine dining places are offering non-alcoholic drink pairings with their menu! 👌
This is actually a Michelan star restaurant that looks inviting and not overly pretentious. I love the use of locally grown greens and creative non alcohol drinks. What a beautiful town, it just adds to the ambience.
I just found your channel today and I've been binge watching episodes all day,I can't get enough of these elegant and out of this world food and restaurants‼👌🏿your channel gets three Michelin stars!🌟🌟
Michael, Just discovered your channel and love it! You're super knowledgeable and a terrific storyteller. Thanks for setting a high bar for what cuisine content creation can be!
Great video , well filmed and edited. Stunning little town and restaurants , they're only an hour from me. I've been going to Lenclume since simon arrived in cartmel. Just one little error. Cartmel isn't the birthplace of sticky toffee pudding , they just sell it in the shop there. It was invented by Francis Coulson at The Sharrow bay hotel in Ullswater many years ago.
Your content has come so far, I'm blown away. You've also managed to turn an awful cynic into a full fledged Michelin nerd. I can't wait for more stuff like this. I wish you'd list your top three picks of each meal. 😍
Did that farm stink really bad? All of that compost seem to attract a lot of flies. Also, that yeasted butter- was it mixed with egg and onion to form a spread or was it more like butter mixed with yeast?
One thing I've learned about restaurants like this is that they're for poor people. You're sat there for hours bored out of your mind while they bring out their tiny, almost inedible dishes. Meanwhile everyone is pretending it taste good because they spent a lot of their money on when in reality it's disgusting but if you grew up without money to you expensive = good and that's the only reason these places stay in business. Poor people trying to look rich.
Must be a Reform voter because really, it’s not just the inanity of that comment , nor that’s it’s totally nonsensical but it’s downright stupid. Confidently showing your ignorance.
What bugs me about ‘fine dining’ is that they almost frown at people with allergies and strong dislikes. I don’t live too far from L’Enclume and for this reason, I’ll never go. Food elitism isn’t always good. The farm is fabulous but, that’s all.
It's because it is such a hassle given their techniques and sourcing which are very time consuming - you might try contacting some of the bigger places ahead and see if they can do something for you. They take customer service seriously but most people with allergies and such are not willing to pay the extra they would have to if there were standing policies and ingredients
It’s funny because one of the fine dining restaurants I’ve been to that best caters for allergies is ION Harbour - a restaurant that’s part of the same family as L’enclume. They called me the night/morning before I went and asked me is there any allergies are dislikes they would like to cater for
Some fine dining places will find it hard to cater for allergies because they have developed a very specific set of dishes and cannot just change ingredients to order . Other places , from 1 to 3 star will be happy to cater for any requirement , especially if you mention this when you book . I’m sure if you booked Alain ducasse or Gordon Ramsay they would do whatever you wanted . I went to Noma and overheard a table next to me explain that they could only eat halal food and the waiter was very clear that they could substitute at every course . What is it at enclume that you can’t eat ? Have you even asked ? Most chefs actually just want to feed people.

Went here back in 2023 and all the flavours are still etched in my brain. Thank you so much for your video and bringing back these amazing memories.

This was 10 years ago BTW and I still have that menu in a frame in my kitchen. I know I will return one day

Why give a menu after you have ordered?

I had to watch this twice in succession, it's so good. Thanks for sharing!

Stunning restaurant. Been twice and was given a young shiso plant as a gift after dinner
Thank you, that was a fabulously well shot video. Appreciation from Bristol U.K.

adding this one to the list!!
great vids bro
Did you produce this whole video yourself? This is incredibly impressive!
You should have listed the prices for each dish you're showing or for the whole course. Would have been interesting to see.

I've always been more interested in the non alcoholic drinks you sample on you videos. Always interested on the creativity of it

Went to ION Harbour (Malta) one of the other restaurants of chef Rogan, and it was top too.
Do people who live in or near Cartmel eat at L'Enclume?
No most of them can’t afford it
Who else is here because of the 2010 movie "The Trip"?
Drink it !
have you ever been to a michelin starred restaurant in germany?
Problem is... is any of he dishes served hot, or at least not cold/tepid?!?
It shouldn’t be cold, but you’re not going to be able to fully taste it if it’s piping hot. You shouldn’t expect it to be for this sort of place.
I want to go to there- Liz Lemon
Wait... Did you go back a second time for the English breakfast... That was some amount of food for 1 sitting 😮😮
♥️
Try ION in Valletta Malta 2 Michelin exceptional. My opinion will be or should be 3 Stars 2025.
🌟🌟🌟!
2nd noooooo 😢
am i the random subscriber who gets to go with you, Michael?
Sorry no, that would be me
That aint no full English

These restaurants are another world maybe you just haven’t had a good experience
Which three Michelin star restaurants have you been to that gave you this opinion?
Enjoy it while you can. Starmer will be erasing all these local places soon.
Why?
Really ? Exactly what is he doing that will erase 3 star restaurants in picturesque villages ?
