I'm not too fond of the logo by itself, but I think it makes sense when you consider the rest of the design. A literal brick bat compliments the brick shithouse Batman quite well.
I like high quality big swings in comics. Most of the classic stories in comics were big swings by very talented creators. I hope these new DC comics are great.

That original version of the Absolute Batman symbol looks exactly like the Batman symbol Giannis Milonogiannis used in his 2020 Batman fanfic comic he was posting on Twitter. It’s funny seeing that, because yesterday I was looking at his Twitter and was reminded of that, and was like: Oh yeah, that’s why the Absolute Batman symbol looks so familiar. I knew I’d seen something that looked a whole hell of a lot like it before, but everything I was thinking of wasn’t as similar to it as I remembered. But then I saw that unofficial fan comic Milonogiannis did again. The final symbol is different, but the original better looking one is exactly Milonogiannis’ version.

Hey Zack, not trolling, but could you think about coming up with a different term to use rather than using homeless as a derogatory term? I work with homeless folks and it is a housing situation term not a morality based choice. I've helped lots of military veterans who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own, and I hate seeing society reject these wounded warriors because they don't meet some economic standard. Just asking from one vet to another.
I'd wait to hear what my brother-in-law says about it. He's a Batman fan, but he is not shy about being critical when it comes to his favorite things. The artwork I'm torn on, but a good story more than makes up for the art.

this batman looks like a professional strongman or powerlifter. in real life gist top speed would be 8 miles an hour, running all out. his vertical would be 10 inches. his cardio would be terrible. when you have the muscle mass to bench press 1000lb and deadlift 2000lb, etc., those muscles suck up oxygen like crazy. seems like this character is getting out of hand. sure, he's mastered 127 forms of martial arts, but can only fight for 30 seconds before he passes out from exhaustion.
Exactly. This has to be a complete departure for it to make sense. I noted that the sketch work says he’s a brawler, so we should see him being exhausted during or after conflict. Maybe he hasn’t trained with anyone? I don’t know. I still don’t understand needing a BATtle Axe either or how he’s going to be wielding that for street level crime but maybe this takes place in some new version of Gotham that’s more Cyber Punk given the Batwing / Cape change. Only thing I can say is it has us talking.😅

I actually loved Constantine. it was way closer to Hellblazer than it really had any right to be for an NBC procedural. I do wish there had been a scene in it somewhere where someone points out that all the Americans are mispronouncing his name but John just doesn't give a fuck about that so he never corrects anyone
I dont hate this design. Its just a different art style and character design. I'm a lifelong gundam fan (since the 80s) - but I've never had a problem enjoying SD Gundam. I feel about this as I did Miller Dark Knight. Its different and cool in its own way. OG Batman isnt going anywhere.

Why not have your projects 30-50% complete when you launch the campaign? You're popular enough that they will almost definitely succeed, and that could help you work faster.

I think the stitches make sense given that this is a working class batman, so he would've sewn the suit by hand. He's not like the original batman who got everything he has by expoliting his workers for their surplus wages. Also the constantine movie tie in game is pure chef's kiss.

Zack Snyder is already back pedaling with how Bruce looks (from Thicc Shady to Terry McThiccis) it will only be a matter of time until the bat symbol looks like a bat. What worries me is that the interview with Casually Comics he kept referring to what his kids like and how he put some of his life in previous Bat books. As you said his fears and what terrified him. Bruce has his own personality and should react to situations as Bruce would when facing them. If you’re writing your own IP then you may insert more of yourself into that story to bring it to life. But as it stands classic Batman is already alive with plenty of back issues to pull from.
I don’t think you know how writing works. Ever hear the phrase “write what you know?” Every writer puts their own experiences into their work. That’s what writing is.
Say what you will about the logo, I think it's ugly, but it is getting people talking about Batman. The people pre-disposed to hate everything new coming out are going to hate it anyway. Everyone else is at least curious. Eyes are on Batman. If they can stick the landing on the first issue, they're going to get a lot of sales.
Gonna be blunt: I don't like the logo. I'd even say I hate the logo. THAT SAID I'm amazed it's causing this much fuss. It's a creative design choice, people are allowed to not like it, but it may be one of the least important parts of this book coming out. I fear that "outrage" has become so normalized that people have forgotten how to just "turn off" or ignore things that bother them. Everyone has to go full-blast on everything. Zack is right, it is the extra points mid-wings that throw it off. Specifically, the extra points on the top mid-wings. If the logo only had points at the top corners (the bat's "wrists") but kept the points along the bottom edge (the bat's "fingertips") it would be less off-putting.
i would say the issue with comics in the social media age isn't a lack of risk taking. making every character gay/lesbian/trans was certainly a calculated risk of some kind. just don't bet the (sod) house on 'gay'.
Save comics? Probably not. Save DC? Probably boost sales (which have been pretty bad). Long term? Who knows. Either way it will probably lead yet another “crisis” smh
