After fighting with this for 45 minutes I decided to check UA-cam to see if anyone had this problem. You were the first video I clicked on. 45 seconds later my seat is out and I'm here screaming THANK YOU!
This is the BEST advice! I had taken my 2014 Sedona to the dealer twice. First time two men fussed and couldn't do it. Told me I had to leave it. Next time I did and after 5 hours I got a call saying I needed new tracks at $800. per track. (of course that cost $90. for diagnostics!) So we brought it home and found YOUR video. It was SO easy the way you explain it and works every time. Thanks for saving us $800!!!
WOW! I seriously cant thank you enough for this! Been looking up and trying to get my seats out for the LONGEST! Nobody could help. your video was seriously sent to me from the “seat removing” gods lol THANK YOU!
Thank you very much!! You have no idea how grateful I am. Great directions and that 1 angle where you can see the latch moving was exactly what I needed to know to get it done.
Thank you so much!! This video saved me, my dad and brother. We had borrowed our uncle’s van to move a small couch but when putting the seats back in, we had put one of them in the wrong way and couldn’t get it out. After struggling for hours, your trick worked immediately!
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had this car for 7 years and have never been able to get the seats out because they wouldn’t unlatch in the back. You’re my hero!
Haha, I'm a red-blooded male with a very high mechanical aptitude, but let me say that you saved me a LOT of time with this video! We had the same exact problem as you on our 2006 Sedona - the rear latches were latched and the front ones were not. This is a GREAT explanation, direct and to the point without any unnecessary information that saved me from having to figure it out myself. Thank you!
I, too am mechanically inclined and this took me a few minutes to figure it out. I ended up flipping over the chair we hadn't installed yet to see how the latches work. Glad I could help! The cable system works great for the latches, but you would think that they would have engineered a way that the back wouldn't latch with the front not latching first. Get with it Kia, lol!
Thanks a million times for posting this. My 2014 Kia Sedona 2nd row rear seat latch was stuck in the closed position so I couldn't put the seat down.. I followed your instructions moving the cable, and the latch popped right open. It took a while searching the Internet for a solution. I'm so glad I found your video! Thanks again
Thank you so much!!! My husband was going insane trying to unlatch the seats. I decided to watch a youtube video tutorial (while he was swearing and losing his mind with the seats) and your video saved the day!!!
Excellent thank you. I had the same issue with the passenger side rear seat only. It wouldn't budge until I prodded the latches with a screwdriver. Very much appreciated.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! This is exactly what happened to me today, and I was going crazy as I unsuccessfully tried to fix it. I did a Google search and lo' and behold, your video came up. I went back out to the van and got it unlatched and in properly in less than a minute! I can't tell you how grateful I am. The internet can be pretty amazing...
Really can't thank you enough for making this video i had the same problem like u did smh was messing with it for over 2 hours and decided to look on UA-cam and seen urs FINALLY got it out and only took me 10 min thank you again 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
You should get paid for posting this!! After about a month of frustration and numerous tries a a fix (hours at time) and calling the nearest Hyundai and Kia dealerships for help (they had no clue) I finally found your you tube post. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! It only took about 10 seconds!!! AMAZING!! This was a Kia Sedona 2006. BLESS YOU!
My nearest Kia Dealership said that they had never heard of this problem but would be willing to take a look at it starting at 2 hours of labor to try to find the fix at $120 an hour. I said "no thank you". "Thank You" for your gracious willingness to want to help others out out of the goodness of your heart. Yes, you are definitely being a blessing. =)
River Bard There was a lot of cursing on my end for sure! I'm a large woman and rolling around in the van floor in 90 degree weather was not pleasant. I certainly didn't want anyone else to have to go through that.
Thanks SO much for this!! Our middle seat absolutely would not come out - it doesn't have the lever that the diagram calls to pull to release the seat so I don't what's going on. Anyway I used your hack to get it out and now I'm really happy. :)
Good to know thanks. The same thing happened to me a few years ago. I can't remember how I resolved it, but I do remember it was very frustrating. Now I'm having trouble getting both 2nd row seats in my 2007 Sedona to rotate forward for removal. It seems that the mechanism that controls the "bicycle-like" cables no longer works. Probably corroded from lack of use. Anyway, your video helped me. Much appreciated!
I would spray some WD-40 on all the moving parts under there. Also, I have found that if I fold the top part of the seat down and put my hand under the back part of the seat and pull up at the same time I pull the lever to "tumble" the seat forward, that helps a lot. Just pulling the lever has never worked for me.
Yes, I sprayed the rear seat latches with WD-40 after I used Niki's method of prying the lever to release the rear locking feet. I was able to rotate both seats. Thanks Niki! However, none of the 4 cables at the rear locking feet locations move when pulling the rear strap or the lever on the side of either seat. I'm guessing something corroded or came loose in the cable mechanism under the seat. We rarely remove our seats, so I don't plan on troubleshooting further. We had a seatbelt trapped under one of the seats, and I was successful freeing it. Will drive this Kia until our Honda is paid off, then Mama gets a new vehicle! :-)
We have a 2008 Entourage van (not a big seller for them), I removed the captain's chairs and then couldn't get one back in. I didn't think there was a difference i.e. right/left, so I tried the seat in the left space. It latched, but my son noticed the seat belt buckle is in the wrong place! Now it won't come back out. Took it to the dealer and they know nothing. Tomorrow, I try your way....I hope it works! Thanks for your upload.
remcat03 It should. Hyundai and Kia vehicles are nearly the same other than some trim styling. Also, I don't think there were a whole lot of changes from 2006 to the 2008 models. Let me know how it works out, so I can add more keywords to this. I want to help as many as possible.
I am so glad that this has helped so many! I would like to make this tip as helpful as possible. If any of you could, please post the year and model of your van. I know this trick will work with many years and models in the Kia Sedona and Hyundai Entourage family, but it would be nice to have some verification of what years it really works for.
Lee Rollins Glad to help! Also, I should mention too the following...if it is loud at startup it is the belt tensioner, at shutoff if you hear a few loud bangs from the passenger side it is the blend door for the HVAC, and also there is another recall on the front control arms, Kia is replacing them this time.
jmjstella Bahaha! Glad to help, but if you do decide to get rid of a kid, I would suggest the oldest. They're most able to fend for themselves and the eat more.
HA!!!! This is so true! The oldest is very grateful, however, for your video. You have saved him! By the way, ours is a 2006 Kia Sedona that looks just like yours. Now, if I could just figure out how to keep the kids from hiding food like squirrels in the back seat compartment . . .
After fighting with this for 45 minutes I decided to check UA-cam to see if anyone had this problem. You were the first video I clicked on. 45 seconds later my seat is out and I'm here screaming THANK YOU!
Same! 2nd video but still. :)

I have had so much grief and this is the solution, thank you so much. so simple but yet no one knew!!!
That was so easy after we worked for 30 minutes trying to get them unlocked. Thank you for posting this trick!
Thank you so much!! This video saved me, my dad and brother. We had borrowed our uncle’s van to move a small couch but when putting the seats back in, we had put one of them in the wrong way and couldn’t get it out. After struggling for hours, your trick worked immediately!
Thank you for posting your clip. It assisted my husband and I removing our middle seats that refused to budge!
Same. I have no idea how the middle seat is supposed to come out other than doing this hack.
You totally saved me this morning. I got the seat stuck and had a van full of kids that needed to get somewhere in a hurry. Thanks for posting this!
Also letting you know that this video saved MY sanity too.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had this car for 7 years and have never been able to get the seats out because they wouldn’t unlatch in the back. You’re my hero!
It is crazy how complicated that latch system is for the seats. This is a very big problem that Kia needs to fix.
Yours is the only video on the subject that worked for us! Thanks
Haha, I'm a red-blooded male with a very high mechanical aptitude, but let me say that you saved me a LOT of time with this video! Thank you soooooooooo much. This is why the internet exists, to help each other

Kay DeeDee what did you search for? This is helpful to know so I can add it to my video tags. It will help more people find this video.

It would be nice if they paid me, but totally unnecessary ;-) I am just happy to be a blessing!

Thanks! I can quit cursing now. 😜🖖 worked like a charm!
River Bard There was a lot of cursing on my end for sure! I'm a large woman and rolling around in the van floor in 90 degree weather was not pleasant. I certainly didn't want anyone else to have to go through that.
Thank you so much! You really saved me from going insane today. After watching your tutorial, it was super easy to get the chair out!
It took me 20 minutes rolling around in the hot van to figure it out. I knew there would be others that were equally as frustrated! :)
20 minutes is still amazing! lol
Thank you! You saved me a lot of time and kept me off frustration!
Steven Gouin No need for extra frustration around the holidays, lol. Glad I could help. Merry Christmas :)
OMG thank you. The night before a long weekend at the beach and this had to happen LOL. Saved us!!
Thank you! You just saved me a major headache.
This was a life saver. Thanks so much!

Thank you for this video, worked great... 2014 same issue.
Helped me with my exact problem! Thank you!!
Thank you sooooo much! We were trying for what seemed like an hour and your video saved us! Bless up!
Thank you so much! Got one side in and thought I'd be there for hours.
Thank you for posting this... kept reading that manual and was wondering why mine wasn't releasing like it said.
Thank you! Mark this is one of humanities great contributions!
I am glad that I could help!

Good video! Your video seems to be the only one showing how to release these seats..
Thanks for sharing. Thanks to this video, I fixed my seats. 👍👍👍

thanks so very much for this video! I copied you and fixed my van chair myself with your help!! :D
THANK YOU!!!!!! I was trying to decide which kid we would have to get rid of because we would no longer be able to use that seat . . .
jmjstella Bahaha! Glad to help, but if you do decide to get rid of a kid, I would suggest the oldest. They're most able to fend for themselves and the eat more.

Duct tape...not for the compartment, for the kids. They are so much more manageable when they can't move their arms.
Oh, my goodness! Can we please be friends?!
Thank you!!! From Santiago, Chile!
