> The band was formed in 1967 in the suburbs of London . During their short career (1967-70) they played as a support band for Pink Floyd, The Nice, Vanilla Fudge and also played at The Isle Of Wight Festival. Released the single “Strange Walking Man / Steam” in March 1969, recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Due to the lack of publicity (only one small note in “Melody Maker” and no radio airplay) and interest from the record label, the band was left with virtually no sales. After some lineup changes and a name reduction to simply “Mandrake”, the band finally broke up in 1970.
It got a review in The Disc and Music Echo, I remember it. And I also heard it played on John Peel's Top Gear, and on another occasion, they recorded a session for the show. "Strange Walking Man" has always been one of my all time favourites. I love all things weird, off the wall and bendy, and SWM ticks all of those boxes in spades! Great shame they never made it...they definitely should have! 😎
Already heard the whole set three or four times in the first 12 hrs after you released the video. Superlungs kind of stand out. Cheers, keep it up my friend.
@@TheD4VR0S What's wrong with that?! 😳 Some of the best records are covers! If in doubt, just play Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Suzi Q AND I Put a Spell on You!! 👍👍
