  • I've found my cue for when Paco is close to reaching his threshold point and getting ready to bark. Once Paco goes over his threshold, all it seems I can do is just try and keep him close while he barks and lunges at the other doggie like crazy. On the other hand if I catch Paco in this hard stare before the barking starts, then that is when I should lean down and begin to pet caress, hold him lovingly and reassure him all will be okay if we just wait for the doggie stranger to pass. Hopefully this will continue to work. We saw two doggies on this walk on separate occasions and as soon as he did that hard stare, I began to pet and love him. Paco doesn't seem to want to redirect his frustration on me by biting or growling at me so it's the safest option I've experienced so far. P.S. History-I've tried never to be physical(hitting, etc.) to Paco when he has behaved in a way I've found undesirable. Hopefully this is why Paco does not feel the need to redirect his anger at me by biting or something.
