Donna Karan Reveals Stephan Weiss: Connecting the Dots Exhibit

Fashion icon Donna Karan introduces the artwork of her husband, Stephan Weiss, who passed away in 2001 from lung cancer. When Weiss fell ill with lung cancer, he relied heavily upon the calming effects of a holistic regime, integrating yoga, spiritual guidance and breathing techniques to ease his discomfort in addition to his Western medical treatments. During the course of his illness, Donna Karan realized that these complementary techniques were extremely helpful, yet sorely missing in traditional healthcare, and came up with the idea for the Urban Zen Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to reforming healthcare in partnerships with hospitals like Beth Israel.
