- City’s hopes of being crowned Premier League champions were frustrated as Pep Guardiola’s side lost out 2-1 at home by Chelsea.
Knowing victory at the Etihad would see us regain the title, we gained a 44th minute lead thanks to Raheem Sterling’s close-range strike.
Sergio Aguero then saw a 45th minute penalty saved - and Chelsea hit back after the break as Hakim Ziyech levelled affairs on the hour.
However, though City strove to find a winner and saw a shout for a late penalty turned down, it was Cheslea who gained the winner, Marcos Alonso beating Ederson in injury time to seal the victory and ensure the race goes on - at least for 24 hours.

Tuchel already knows the team Pep will field for the final, so we expect 2 different teams on that day. It's gonna be a different game from this 1. These managers share almost the same mind set.
Which is why I didn't get why Pep made so many changes. Half our losses this season across competitions have come when we play Sterling, Jesus, Torres and Mendy together. And then yesterday we started the game with 1 midfielder, doesn't make sense.

To me there should have been a foul to Sterling for the penalty and the missed penalty combined for 2 goals missed. If not, this game should have gone the other way around. Chelsea got 2 good breaks or else. But I still believe they can pull it off in the end. But if BM, Torres, Rodri still in, I don't know.

This game is bigger than people realize. This was the loss that caused Pep to overthink his tactics in the Champions League Final. Chelsea was a thorn in Man City's side in 2021.

With respect to the chelsea players you mention, (5) is equal to 4 city players. It's that much difference. Mahrez, de Bruyne, B. Silva and Foden combination is the deadliest this year in europe. Take out one, replace it with guendogan and it's still the same.

Our main team didn't play Chelsea while their main team played us 2 times . This help in analysis and preparing better for UCL final. You must have seen the change when foden and gundo came into play. Similarly City will be entirely different team when they face Chelsea in UCL
