    Wow. That centerpod looks almost identical to the floor selector switch in an elevator machine room. That centerpod looks to have a series of electrical contact switches, and as it rotates the switches send current to various parts of the machine, and certain relays to energize motors and what not. Same with an elevator floor selector switch, its on a rotating screw, and the plates move in conjunction with the elevator cab. The rotating plates have notches that activate certain switches, to tell elevator to stop at a specified floor and to level itself. I am surprised that there are not some special motor controls that protect the motor ftom a burn out should something get jammed. I have worked with machines that have special fuses that will melt in case of a motor overload, thus cutting power to motor to protect it. I wish i was close by as i love to work on this type of stuff. Could probably repair these machines for you. My biggest fear is not being able to locate parts. As things get old, parts become scarace, and expensive. Sometimes i can find them used on ebay, and cheap.

    How are these carwashes doing the cleaning job? In my country(Netherlands 🇳🇱 ) there is no such car wash. Not circling arround the car but 2 main things apart of wash boxes for self washing:
    A rollover that has brushes and sprayers at the top and sides that drive over the car when the car is standing still.
    The other one is a lane wash the car gets pulled by a plate where the wheel stays in. Then sprayers, then brushes and the bottom floor cleaning(chassis) then spray and brush again and then dry with big blowers and dry brushes.

    Those Hydrospray Rainmaker units seem like a solid system when it comes to automatic car washes. However, when maintenance costs end up higher than your profits it’s time to either find a better fix (for in your case that little wheel) or give it an upgrade like you did with the other car wash. I’ve been through one of those Belanger Kondor systems and they can be quite nice. Your pricing issue has my head spinning though. In my area, $15 is considered a normal price and anything even slightly less is an absolute bargain. I think the cheapest I’ve seen was about $8 but the unit washing my vehicle (an old RACO system) did not perform well. I think my best deal was $10 at either of the Fiesta Car Wash (a local company originally branching from Conoco’s Fiesta Mart). Both car washes house newer Ryko systems (one has a Ryko Radius, the other has both a Radius and a Softgloss Maxx 5) and both perform wonderfully.

    • @baelevatorsmore728
      @baelevatorsmore728 2 роки тому +2

      @Investment Joy That’s true. I’m just pointing out that the top wash being $15 is actually normal where I’m at. Finding anywhere that’s cheaper for a top wash is like striking gold. I’m sure the profit margin for a car wash is pretty decent though. I’m not quite a businessman myself (the closest I’ve come to that is being a cashier for Walmart) but I’m progressively learning more about the business system and how it operates.

    • @baelevatorsmore728
      @baelevatorsmore728 2 роки тому

      @rat4psd I mean yeah they’re old but some of those older systems are more solidly built than the car wash systems they make today. It all comes down to the cost of maintenance, reliability, and the overall profit the wash makes. I’ve been through one of those Hydrospray units and for as old as they are, with proper maintenance, they can run for what seems to be a very long time.

    Just a pricing thing... I increased my own business prices by 25% a year ago as I realized I had not kept up with costs and the rest of the market around me for a couple of years. I'm STILL under pricing (in my view), but business has gone UP so it's a double win. More clients willing to pay more.
    The lesson of the day for me is to know your local market and price accordingly. Clients will not penalize you for correct pricing.

    You may want to change chemicals and systems. I mean the Hydrospray Rainmaker had a good run, but you should maybe change systems and chemicals. Like maybe you can try a Laserwash 360 Plus or Washworld Razor. Both of those can come with an on board dryer option, which is ideal for short bays. Plus, no down time and easy to maintain. Oh, and Simoniz makes good chemicals too! They have a ceramic sealant.

    If the whole reason why the fires happened was because of the white roller wheel, if it saves hundreds or thousands of dollars, I would just make it a routine to replace that wheel every 2 months or so, that way it’s always staying new and functional. I assume it’s only like a 20 minute replace if you have something to help lift the arm a bit

In 98% of the cases of motor burnouts I've dealt with in my 40 year career, the overload was set too high or bypassed. 1% of the remainder was a faulty overload that failed to trip even though it was set correctly, and the final 1% was due to welded/burnt contacts on the motor contactor.

    Hi, new subscriber and love content. The car wash videos are good, but used to be a handyman and I'd say half your issues are with plastic parts, not copper parts, all of them parts fail can be copper and will last forever. The wheel get stainless as this would be better than nylon I guess wearing out. Another thing, can you not find a good handyman local that does everything and you pay him $50k. You might need a younger guy to do heavy lifting and other two man jobs. OK you have to find this money, but how much is it cost when things go wrong.
