Yeah good stuff. The main riff during the verse and overall feel reminds of Teenage Rampage by Sweet. Nice anthem theme groove and locomotive style rhythm section.

One of the GREATEST pieces of music to emerge from the 70's. I'd go so far as to say it's "timeless classic rock" from the era, a GREAT time to be alive....😊
Love this...what an intro. Wow! Those lyrics, so cheeky. 'I can take you home on the midnight train again, I can make an offer you can't refuse'... So good.
I was eleven years old when this masterpiece was released. Have read from "Status Quo" in the german magazin called "Bravo". This band was some kind of cool compared with the "wimpy" stuff like Abba or Boney M. or whoever. In those days you can see several girls and boys wearing jeans jackets with patches from "Quo". Those were the cool ones! I wanted to be like them! Was listening to the radio a lot back then and taping the music i like. Mostly the pop charts. Suddenly the guy on the radio played the title track of this album. I was totally blown away! Totally! You have to know that it was very difficult to get "new music" because of too little pocket-money and your mates didn't have that much records, too. Building a network was absolutely important back then. It was a time of searching and exploring. A never ending thing. So i bought the original tape of this album and listened to it a hundred or thousand times. No one could know back then that this album and especially the title track would become epic years later. In the years to come i got all the Quo albums. Cannot describe the moment when i put them (never heard before....) on my record player. Breathtaking! Greetings from germany.
This song has a special place in my life. It reminds me of my desperate days when I was away from home, sttuggling and battling addiction and mental disorders in isolation. Even though that was an institution for Masters In Counseling Psychology, I never benefit from it. I can't do my studies. So, I was in a spiral of depression to the point where I was not afraid to die. During those times I drank heavily and popped some pills. The more I did it the harder and lower I got. I was stuck in a loop desperate to run out but none was there. I missed my family and friends but I didn't leave my house and friends to go back whenever I was in desperation because I had joined a prestigious college in India reserved for top students. Sometimes I walked to the roof our hostel and sleep on the floor looking at the skies and moon while smoking, thinking, 'All my loves are also under that same moon but how far away we are'. Everyday was a battle field. I walk through and to every corner skipping class hoping to feel better seeing novel things. That helps, but I knew what was waiting for me when I went back. Doomed, stressed, anxious. Looking back at those days and myself, I pity that man. Nothing did make sense at all during those times and never know what and how lessons were scripted for me in this journey. It was in those times that I listened continuously to Status Quo(since my father used to play when we were young) and that was that. I couldn't hold any more so, a big big decision was made and I went home since my principal, teachers and my parents(who contacted each others frequently) thought I was walking in the road of death. During those hard times of 2-3months, this song is one of those which I listened frequently. My restless brain and my poor non energetic body was looking for something. Even when I went home, my sickness follows. But I have the courage and understanding to view those days as a lesson now, not that it was less of a hard experience. Status Quo, go on living as long as this world is living. 09:24 23.4.23(IST)
