I am caught in a day of reflecting upon my life and the many journeys within. Going to see The Jerry Band was so soul soothing. The world could use a dose of it these days.
What continues to astound me is that as we watched Garcia’s painful meltdown with the Dead and no one noticed or cared- meanwhile up to the very end the JGB was sharp and on point; you’d never guess what was going on elsewhere. This should not be news to anyone, but during an ongoing massive relisten it was so dreadfully obvious I had to stop by and see if anyone else had noticed this, or have my marbles rolled even further away?
Melvin n Jerry were on this song like white on rice! man, I wish I coulda seen the JGB! r.i.p J.J.G.!! I miss you so much! God bless yall..........................FURTHER 4 now
Man This is Simply Jerry At His Very BEST..he loved to Play with The JGB..I no in his Heart he had more Fun Playing with the JGB..HE WAS ALWAYS MUCH MORE EMOTIONAL WITH THEM....Miss You My Brother UDIG..
simply by singing the song he gave credit to Peter Tosh... the great thing about Jerry's fans is most of us really don't need anyone to tell us who wrote what...
smartalek180 I I can't tell you how many times I've had tears welling up in my eyes with this mans voice in the background he has such a good understanding of the human condition.
Yeah, I am up @ 6 till 3:00 AM still listening to Jerry after a long day of cleaning out weeds in my flowers & I still enjoy hearing him before going to sleep - need my Jerry charge for the night - already got him with me all day working on flowers - I absolutely love love that man - oops don't remember my name now on - I could not ever nOT teLL on you - I stay awake all night thinking of you - I do know you babr
You lie...Bob Never sing the song or cover that beauty composition and lyrics of Peter teacher TOSH...Thé master and the King of reggae music and reggae musicians... Only TOSH do this master pièce of music.. Not Bob but TOSH in all arrangement and his plenty inspirations ...Here, he t'ake lead vocal, Organ, lead guitar and percussions.... À genuis for reggae music and reggae musicians...
Compare any of his playing and voice to any similar era Dead show. What a difference. No matter how lugubrious he was with the Dead, almost all through the last days you can hear (and see) the difference when he’s doing what he loves, by that time I’m pretty sure was not playing with the Dead, all detractors aside. Although he actually said words close to that, even though it was much earlier. And ❤️ seeing Melvin.
no one owns a song and i dont care if they did write it....because music is made when someone who can take the energy(psychic energy) that is given off by all life , anyway when that is recieved by a person that person then can translate that to music(or some other creative thing) and thats what the dead or jerry did the best...they took the audiences energy and gave it back as music...pure love
Awesome! suprised I'm now hearing this recording for the 1'st time!@ 3:40 & beyong the drum's,Jerry n the key's were amazing(snare drum was kinda"weird but ohwell)nice set otherwise...a new favorite! I miss jerry,JGB ALL TOO MUCH!!!!
Tosh wrote this about leaving the wailers. He was not put on the Earth to be a back up Singer. Jah Herb Jah Jerry from Tucson Arizona Sonoran 🏜️ desert 🍄🌵🇯🇲🇺🇸 irie vibration
@nubba111 ...Keith Emerson smokes anyone under the table!...I had the priveledge of standing five feet from him as he played as "Keith Emerson & Friends" at a private Power106 party @ The Roxy in Los Angeles...still goes down as one of the most amazing moments of my life...to watch him climb on his Hammond Organ and pull out his dagger set and start playing backwards while standind upside down, while sticking the daggers inbetween keys to hold certain chords....HOLY SHIT !....the dude is amazing
Others will argue music is intellectual property. I've heard it said that DSO is a GD tribute band. IMHO that's like calling the Boston Pops a Beethoven cover orchestra. Music is collective property and should remain such. It is a universal language, which requires no translation. If you have the gift, play what you feel.
@sessionskier You're missing what he's talking about. At a Dead show there were others that sang tunes, whether or not it was their own or a cover. When you went to JGB show Garcia sang every tune. On top of that, the way he played the tunes he decided to cover, he made it his own the way he approached the tune...
Stop that train: I'm leavin', today! Stop that train: I'm leavin', anyway! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. All my good life I've been a lonely man, Teachin' my people who don't understand; And even though I tried my best, I still can't find no happiness. So I got to say: Stop that train: I'm leavin', oh, baby now! Stop that train: I'm leavin', don't care what you say! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; Said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. Some goin' east; and-a some goin' west, Some stand aside to try their best. Some livin' big, but the most is livin' small:: They just can't even find no food at all. I mean, stop it: Stop that train: I'm leavin', leavin', mm-hmm. Stop that train: I'm leavin', I don't mind! Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said: It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong. Stop that train: I'm leavin', leavin'! Stop that train: I'm leavin', can't take it! Stop that train: I'm leavin',got to be better! It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong; I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong.
Ugh. Just covering the song is a tip of the hat. When Jerry plays your stuff, you have arrived. I played this song last night for a room full of bar goers, and verbally acknowledged Peter Tosh, and they could have cared less.
I am caught in a day of reflecting upon my life and the many journeys within. Going to see The Jerry Band was so soul soothing. The world could use a dose of it these days.
The smile on Jerry's face when they're just groovin along is just pure joy
Then he dives straight into the sweet jams
Pure joy is right. MAGA Fuck Biden
and that dip - love it too
What a great guitarist he was, his solos here are amazingly wonderful.
yes - they are.....he needs to know - rem he lives through us...
I was just saying that to my friend!!! (~);} ✨♥️💀⚡🌹🎶💫✌️

the muddy flowing bass completes it
The spiritual side of Mr. Jerry Garcia. Taking a break from his acid rock with The Grateful Dead. very mean guitar solo that one!
Bob sings the song too, but Peter Tosh version that became famous and was put on Catch a Fire. Long Live the Jerry, Bob, Peter, and Bunny!!!

I have seen Melvin Hes awesome!!
Stop that train: I'm leavin', today!
Stop that train: I'm leavin', anyway!
Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said:
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong;
I said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong.
All my good life I've been a lonely man,
Teachin' my people who don't understand;

Stop that train: I'm leavin', oh, baby now!
Stop that train: I'm leavin', don't care what you say!
Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said:
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong;
Said, it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong.
Some goin' east; and-a some goin' west,
Some stand aside to try their best.
Some livin' big, but the most is livin' small::
They just can't even find no food at all.
I mean, stop it:
Stop that train: I'm leavin', leavin', mm-hmm.
Stop that train: I'm leavin', I don't mind!
Stop that train: I'm leavin'. And I said:
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong;
I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong.
Stop that train: I'm leavin', leavin'!
Stop that train: I'm leavin', can't take it!
Stop that train: I'm leavin',got to be better!
It won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong;
I said it won't be too long whether I'm right or wrong.
