I’m still waiting for a collaboration like Meta x Rayban sunglasses but for cycling sunglasses. It seems to me it would be a game changer from a easy-to-use perspective. I’d buy it in a second.
As someone who has given up on Garmin due to years of brutally inept customer service and several dysfunctional devices, I am hoping that Hammerhead and other computers will soon become compatible with this camera for ride data. I have reservations about how the flip screen will stand up to West Coast Canadian mud, grime and crud. Especially in the winter.
Some really nice performance features. Unfortunately what other reviewers have pointed out is its inability for near focus and lack of 10bit colour. This for me rules it out at the moment.
So it has a magnetic clip that enables you to mount it on a GoPro mount on your handlebar? I’m looking for a more subtle mount onto my bike handlebar as opposed to the big clamps that I’ve seen. More specifically, I have a double sided bike computer mount that has the ability to mount a bike computer on the top and a GoPro underneath. Would the Ace Pro fit on this mount?
@@davidarthur Sorry - one other thing. Do the GoPro batteries fit? Unlikely I know, but I bought a ton of them for my shooting 😁 and this looks really good. I'll be interested to see your comparison footage.
@@alwaysanotheradventure Annoyingly they don't because I have a stack of GoPro batteries. Planning a comparison between the two, have some nice pros and cons of both that will make this interesting
Thanks David! I just got mine earlier this month and so far have been impressed. As a content creator, do you use the HDR filming mode, or now that you can turn it off after the latest firmware update do you prefer it off for better color grading control in post?
I haven't really used the HDR mode as I don't do much colour grading if any at all in post, like to minimise the steps between shooting and publishing personally and I'm more like to make it worse than better!
Personally if you’re a content creator, then it’s a great camera, but for recording inept drivers over the course of a decent ride, currently there isn’t as far as I’m aware a camera that’s nice and compact, (don’t need a screen) that offers stabilisation, and will last for say 8 hours. Make the battery removable so a spare can be carried to get the extra time needed. Come on GoPro, , Insta, there is a market for this.
With my Ace Pro the battery lasts about 90 minutes recording at 4k/120 with Standard stabilisation, so I bought the "Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank" for £145 which provides an additional 12-13 hours. I have 2x Ace Pro's for front and rear so then this power bank lasts about 6 hours. The Standard stabilisation works well, there's the High mode which I doubt I'll ever use for road cycling. But it would be great if there were better proper physical stabilisers, the insta360 version is no good as its not IP rated.
It's the best quality I've yet experienced for on bike filming from action camera like this, the sharpness and clarity out of camera are very good. Sadly there's some compression on YT even at 4k
Great review dude. Really well thought out. 😎👍🏻 It really does look a great bit of kit, but that price?? 👀 I’m not a UA-camr so an investment like that would be pretty pointless for me. I’ll just stick to my GoPro Hero. 😎👍🏻
I use a cheap generic body cam available on eBay etc make sure you buy one with a cycle mount so you can mount to handlebars. Battery life is about 10 hours, more than enough for any ride, resolution is 2k, good enough for evidential use and the price?......Wait for it😮 about £35-40 complete with SD card. Far cheaper than over priced action cams and you won't cry over it if it gets trashed in an accident. As my last Go Pro did. Think outside the box and don't fall into the product placement/sponsorship trap!
dude. Who's gaslighting? You can see the performance on screen. GoPro is indeed laggy. 7.5% price difference isn't not exactly a deal-breaker, given the better app, flip-out screen, greater resolution, etc.
@@treyquattro You are gaslighting. My GoPro 12 is not laggy at all. My GoPro 12 cost only $300. I had to spend $450 for the Ace Pro. I don't care about the app or the flip up screen. I'd rather have the front screen. Big deal it can do 8K at only 24 frames per second and none of the features work in 8K. That's just a gimmick.
@@Cameraflyer- haha, so according to you EVERYONE is gaslighting. Right. You don't want to pay extra for a flip-up screen or increased resolution, or better app integration. You could have said that instead of being pissy about your false accusations of gaslighting.
@@treyquattro I use action cameras for action sports. Stupid flip-up screens have nothing to do with action sports. Most everyone else is using it for vlogging. The Ace Pro has a lot wrong with it.
Go pro 12 is a much better option better features better price better quality the list goes on and that flip touch screen is just wrong on a action camera
Being the owner of an older GP, I can say that my Insta 360 is a much better camera, functionality wise… stable… easy to export video… did I say stable? 😂😂😂
I know you won't believe me but despite this being sponsored it's still an honest review, it wouldn't be any different if it wasn't sponsored. I'm still using the camera for all my reviews currently because the quality and usability is so good

What about the battery?
that exists and has for a while its called "activelook" and is in several glasses. such as Engo 1 or 2 , julbo evad 1, or the cosmo vision.

Very good review. I am really impressed about all the functions, pairing of sensors, remote...
Thanks! 👍
Will this work with Wahoo too?
Awesome review, David! It looks really nice.
Thanks! 👍
how does it compare to Dji Osmo action 4?
Cool camera. Cooler shirt. Where can i get one?
What’s the battery life? How long does it take to charge?
Nice review! Looking to upgrade my Hero 9
can I get the link to that mount that you put on your bike 4:11 It looks amazing.
it's part of the insta bike bundle.

What mic do you prefer these days?

Yes it would, it is compatible with all GoPro mounts so it would fit nicely under the computer mount - I have used it this way recently myself
@@davidarthur Thank you! I so appreciate it.
is there a removable micro sd card please? or fixed memory? thinking for longer multiday rides
Yup there sure is

What is the battery life ? Will it cover a 3-4 hr ride ?
Hows the 8k for riding?
David, how do you get the ride metrics (speed, cadence, etc.) on screen in your live cycling video?
Via the Insta360 app, it can drag in Garmin or Apple data from compatible devices, works really well too

The HERO11 Black Mini is probably the smallest camera not sure how it would work as a handlebar dash cam though?

When you film on the bike, the quality is lacking and the pixels are not that good, would it be better here!?
