After a draft and offseason we'll be able to (hopefully) improve the line and improve the personnel to meet the schemes. I think Grubb is still figuring things out and will also improve after an offseason. Seeing JSN light up this year has been magnificent and it shows Grubb understands the talents on offense, the line has seemingly been overmatched in most games this year.
Grubb had probably a top 2-3 offensive line in the country at UW, and they didn't run the ball either. That's what puzzles me. A guy who came from the Harbaugh's trees at UM and Baltimore hired a college Air Raid offensive coordinator that got trucked by a running team in last year's national championship. I'll be surprised if Grubb survives Black Monday as the Seahawks OC. Having that idea and also knowing they need better personnel on the offensive line aren't mutually exclusive ideas.
@supernaturalta6174 not only did he have a top o-line, but this is something we forget about college ball (besides how the hashmarks alter playcalling and design). In college, the talent gaps between schools are huge. It is so much more of a situation where "my guys" being an order of magnitude better than "your guys" is a thing. In the league, those talent gaps aren't near as large. You have to put a guy in a bind, make it so one or two of your opponent CANNOT make the right move. The best offenses exploit catch-22 situations. Grubb does not do that well
Bad OL, Mid tier QB, all new coaching staff. It went about right in my mind. I knew this team wasn't going to contend but didn't expect to see the same issues on the field as the past era. O carrying the D, then D carrying the O. Both sides never playing well at the same time, offense hits a wall Mid season and can't move the ball.
The 2013 Seahawks had a good offense who played the way Pete wanted. I would think they were top five with Michael Robinson lead blocking for Marshawn Lynch. The key thing you said was they spent money on the Oline. Spending money doesn't guarantee a good Oline, but spending the least won't work. Seattle was either # 31 or 32. That includes initially giving Conner Williams $6 million when Olu was the better player the whole time. Cross your fingers. Christian Haynes is as good as we think. Laumea has a chance to be good. He does have attitude. He has the want to finish his blocks hard.We need to draft a left and or right tackle that can move inside to gaurd for his first few years. I don't think there is a Seahawks fan who would mind spending a second round pick, especially if you know he will start. We have 3 above average running backs. K9 is a lead back. Charbonett showed a gear I didn't see last season. We all know how physical he is. Kenny MaCintosh brings some elusiveness and a suprising amount of pop. George Holani looked pretty good in the preseason. Our defense is better than the past few seasons. It will continue to acsend as long as we are willing to pay Earnest Jones lV top 5 linebacker money. Our D Line is solid, and our DBs are good. A special shout out to Devon Witherspoon. TV doesn't do him justice. I was lucky enough to go to the Rams game this season. I live in Victoria BC so traveling starts at 5.30 am to get to the ferry and a 1.30 pm kick-off. Witherspoon ran miles something you can't see from the narrow view on TV. I believe Geno behind a top ten to 12 Oline is talented and tough enough to win in the playoffs. The big question $$$$. DK Metcalf is a true number 1 wide receiver. His size and speed makes him so. If he could improve his catching by 10%, it would help greatly. He also needs to cut harder while running a route. Too often, when he turns, it's more rounded than it should be. This can lead to him not getting open quickly enough and wandering away from Geno, not coming back to the ball. This sounds harsh it really isn't. Every year, he is good for 1000 plus yards and a solid number of TDs. Most of the time he blocks really well. If he didn't, his dad, a former NFL guard, would let him know. Same as Geno how much $$$$$. Could Cody White become our go to contested catches guy. The little I have seen him play says maybe he could be. Some very tough choices. I would bring Ryan Grubb back for year two. It is impossible to make a fair assessment behind this Oline. One gripe is Jake Bobo should have been given more targets. Mostly he should have been the number 1 read 10 times this year. He has strong and safe hands, and the opposing defense wouldn't be looking for it. Another change have Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonett on the field at the same time. Run and pass is open, leave Fant on the sideline in this formation as his blocking isn't great. Either back could play fullback but Zach would be a better blocker on runs, i think. Both backs catch the ball well. I might be wrong but I think opposing defenses mostly line backers would have a tough time covering them. I will end on a sad note for me. Tyler Lockett may be playing his last game as a Seahawk this is all due to Salary cap issues. It would be great if Tyler wanted to play another year or two at $4 or $5 million a season. As good a realtor as i hear he is he wouldn't make that money. NFL does stand for, not for long. Tyler has played 10 solid years. I would love to see 11 if he wants
Your point on having multiple rbs in the back field is something that has infuriated me all season. Maybe it happened and I missed it, but not having running back misdirection concept with those 2 in irritating.
You can point to whatever your bias is…it’s all geno’s fault, fire Grubb, trade DK…have fun. But you live and die by your offensive line play, and you could see for the time Sam Howell stepped in, this is a line (TEs included) that gets people hurt, whether you’re a RB or QB. If you can’t block, whether that’s pass block or run block, you can’t win, and you won’t have a healthy offense cause QBs and RBs will be banged up, and WRs even will suffer with bad and late throws that put them in bad situations and positions to get hit or where they gotta make magic from nothing. I assume our tackles still have it even though they played very down to the competition this year, but this interior can’t go on this way and I would ultimately do whatever it takes to fix it and get real depth behind the starters to boot. Drafting 2nd round RBs and 1st round WRs as much as I like going skill positions will simply not fix this. Playcalling can be much better to hide the line’s deficiencies but at some point they gotta stop playing like 💩. Our Oline coach was also in his first NFL season and if we can’t develop guys we’re double screwed, cause there was virtually no improvement from wk 1 to wk 17, when you would assume if only cause of learning the scheme and knowing what plays are likely to be called and what defenses are going to do to those calls you’d be better at the end of the season, but no. They were not. Some of that is QB holding balls yes, some of that is playcalling that is clearly giving something away cause defenses know what’s coming, a lot of that is pressure and unblocked guys hitting your QB in under 2.5 seconds. That can’t happen. So if you’re pointing to anything but a massive upgrade at interior Oline or Oline depth, or ways to otherwise improve offensive line play…you’re simply wrong and missing the point.

We learned that Grubb is not an NFL OC and we need to get rid of him after this season is over and find us a competent OC that can call much better plays. We need an OL coach that can teach our OL to block as a unit.
Nah, Grubb was awful. After NFL DC learned what he was doing we were one of the worst offenses in the nfl. If you take away the 12 points we got from pick 6s, we had the 3rd worst scoring offense since the bills game. Gotta get a real OC
I don't know how much "highest paid" factored into it per se, but they had 2 Pro Bowl lineman (Okung, Unger) and basically an entire unit that was legit out for blood and blocked for a pissed off beast of a RB. The right side of their line consisted of a 7th round draft pick college defensive tackle (Sweezy) and a guy they got off the Packers practice squad (Giacomini). The team also had a bunch of defensive stars and a franchise quarterback on rookie contracts.
@@supernaturalta6174 I concur. Sweez and Gio were nasty dudes with as much attitude as Lynch. IMHO Championships will always be won/lost at the line of scrimmage. Be it offense or defense.
Why doesn’t this channel have JS on the show to ask him the tough questions about the offense and special teams? Also ask him how he had to replace both ILBs midseason.
One lesson team should learn by now is that a team must have skilled beasts on both offensive and defensive lines. DL is in better shape than OL but still could be better at NT. The OL needs to get better at both Guard positions and possibly at Center, maybe Olu is the answer but just needed the seasoning of this past season. Geno haters may hafta wait another season or two before there's a different qb.
I don't think Geno is that bad. When you don't have time to set and throw, it makes it difficult. That said, Smith does make some bonehead decisions. But I don't think he's getting enough support. Macdonald himself admitted that they were out coached against the Packers. Coaching/scheme needs to improve. Last but not least, the game is won in the trenches, and SEA hasn't improved in that area.
I respect these teams. Packers, Vikings and so on. But these teams are not like old Seahawks, Steelers, Colts, especially Patriots back in the days. The current Packers and Vikings can be beaten at any week. The Seahawks just failed to win the must win games because they are not as good as we thought. That's the lesson.
Offensive line needs to be better. Still no excuse, we need a franchise QB!! Will be a mid pack squeak into the playoff with crap draft pics until the QB improves.
Do they bring back ken walker? Zack and Mac should be the starting backs next season. Elusive, powerful, shifty 1 cut backs to make moves early on the line of scrimmage to get those 6-8 yard carries.
He’s still on his rookie contract til the end of next season and doubt that we’ll trade him. But I’d love to see Charb be the 1st down back and K9 to come in as the change of pace, big play back. Similar to what is going on in Detroit with sonic and knuckles. But in order for all that to work. We gotta hit on some OL, otherwise it’s more mediocrity for the hawks offense.
Let's hope our Seahawks better start working out 🏋♂️ 🚴 🏊♂️ and get tougher and how to play smarter for next season. We can't afford to be a charity to another team for next season!
Why can't geno play under center more instead of in shotgun all the time. Geno is better under center and it's easier on the o-line. Run more play action bootlegs and hit double te sets. Coaches should be telling geno with all his interceptions that he needs to find a groove with his te's and not looking for every pass to be a homerun. Work on getting the ball out fast instead of sitting in shotgun like a deer in headlights waiting for the line to crash into you like a tidal wave
When was the last season that we had a top 5 Offensive line? And how much credit do you give to the O- Line that had a very mobile quarterback who took pressure off the line? When looking at all the years when the O-Line was a weakness, how can we blame the players? They can only play their best but who is responsible for aquiring the talent that the O-Line needs to be a top 5 offensive unit? If this is a weakness year after year after year, why would anyone expect different results if the person bringing in the talent never changes? Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of John Schneider but just maybe, he needs to accept the fact that he has been a weakness in the area and bring in someone with proven success. Forget tradition and how it's always been done. Just maybe, John needs a partner for this area of the team in order to be hopeful of a better future. But of course, we could also just continue to cross our fingers....I mean, why not? Look at where it has gotten us so far in the last 10 years....
I like Geno but he does not have very good situational awareness he doesn't seem to understand those moments where we absolutely need to get at least three points and we come away with nothing because he either throws a pick or takes a sack, i definitely think he's going to be the starter next year but we need a quarterback in line to be the next starter and it's not Howell, the problem is the market is pretty dry right now, I like Fields i think he could be a younger Geno replacement for a cheaper cost not sure if he's better but the margin is close enough to make the move other than that i guess we could hope to find a diamond in the draft but i would rather address other positions with the first 2 rounds. Next thing is I think we need to trade DK by the trade deadline next year, i think the capital we could get from him is worth more than his production potential at the cost he's expected to be, my only real hesitation there is Lockett's longevity because JSN can't carry the receiving corp on his own and Bobo is a slot guy at best. I think DK could be a beast if he worked harder and matured more but the truth is he gives up on crucial plays and takes unnecessary penalties which have killed quite a few drives. And for the love of Christ quit putting AJ Barner in there to block he is atrocious. The team focus should really be about keeping this defense together though Woolen needs to really start stepping up but Jobe, Bryant, Love and Spoon are legit not to mention our Dline and Linebacking group. TLDR Geno has regressed every season since he became starter, DK isn't living up to his talent while being a liability, AJ Barner is a terrible blocker and our defense is great but Woolen needs to play better
We are LESS THAN .500 since Geno has been our starter. I’m sorry but he is regressing every year. His first year as our starter was the best. We need to move on, it’s not happening even though we’ve added TONS of talent we aren’t getting better…. Woolen gotta go too!
Unless seahawks can beat the Rams and 49ers consistently, we are going no where. Geno and Sam is not a short term or medium fix. Invest in a good OL, get a good OC that give us a good running game. No more of the shotgun spread offense crap (especially with interception king Geno). With a good defense we stand a better chance of going further.
Sean Paytons Hubris certainly cost Denver. Sean your not that smart. Arizona had 2 time outs. They had just gashed the Rams on the last 2 runs. You need to run at least first down. They got a blitz the run would have worked. The int was a catch JSN would have been proud of. Atlanta had two time outs with a minute or a little less. If you use your time outs and make 5 or 6 more yards that kick is made. The Packers didn't lose because of the coach. Amazing the Pack got to within 2 points.
Lesson learned, one face mask penalty can knock you out of the playoffs. Unfortunately, from hearing Byron Murphy’s response about the call, I don’t think he learned anything. I’m sick of him a Riq making excuses for bad play. 😡
@@robertcortez3526 Lmao that means nothing in the grand scheme of it all. Geno also leads the league in red zone INT's and is only second behind Cousins for leading the league in INT's. Geno also has horrible pocket awareness, and holds onto the ball way too long. Geno gotta go!
It seems Seattle teams just let the fans have false hope and string them along. When your in control of your own destiny. Go for the juggler. Mariners , Seahawks same outcome. Mariners blowing a 10 game lead to a team that eventually made the ALDS. Seahawks are a game ahead of the Rams only to collapse against the Packers at home no less. For those drinking the G.S. koolade need something better like some Fireball. 😅
I do not see many leaders on this football . Fans have been exposed to amazing leaders of the past so we know most of the Seahawk players are just collecting paychecks nothing more. Until that changes, nothing good on this football team will happen. I think it was time to move on from a cheerleader coach, Pete. But I believe the players just think they are better than they really are. Which is sad really. The talent on this team is self limited as well. Guys like DK Metcrap, craps out almost every game 3-4 plays which hurt this team. He is the classic dumb football player . All the talent for that guy means nothing for this football team. He also sounds like a bit of a bully too me. He has a hard time listening to the coaches. I see him arguing with his coaches all the time during the season.
Get rid of Geno and draft Quinn Ewers. Geno cost us to lose yet again to the Rams. All the high offense teams and top playoff teams have a very good qb. Sam Darnold took the next step. Hope the seahawks go after him.
@@Elitemage Darnold will be resigned by the Vikings, so count him out. Ewers doesn’t have that mobility, and has tendencies to fade off in games. I wouldn’t take a chance on him in the early rounds of the draft. Seahawks need to pick up a viable vet in the offseason, and maybe draft a QB in the later rounds of the draft.
There is one lesson to be learned from this season. You will be no better than you are in the trenches.
The lesson is: don’t lose to one of the worst teams in the league in the Giants 👍.

Maybe too many INTs in the red zone. That cost Seahawks games.Hopefully they can get a few good picks in the draft. Better find a mobile QB.
Rite ,Justin fields would right this ship
Dabol to Seattle as the OC?
Fire Geno.
Lesson learned, one face mask penalty can knock you out of the playoffs.
Unfortunately, from hearing Byron Murphy’s response about the call, I don’t think he learned anything.
I’m sick of him a Riq making excuses for bad play. 😡
One bad play shouldn't condemn a rookie, and Riq is adjusting to new D scheme as is rest of team, J. Love is to blame for missed assignments as well.
Ya. Ive been saying that about zach the whole season 😉 he's the RB1
Horrible qb horrible o line. Geno gots to go.
Geno is an mvp caliber qb
I agree 100% with both of you. Seahawks are only mediocre. Start with replacing the QB and Grubb
There were a few single score games where we had the ball in the last 2 and Geno failed to bring it home. sorry, but bye bye Geno.
@@tombuscagliamusicGeno leads the NFL in 4th comebacks since becoming the starter in Seattle
@@robertcortez3526
Lmao that means nothing in the grand scheme of it all.
Geno also leads the league in red zone INT's and is only second behind Cousins for leading the league in INT's. Geno also has horrible pocket awareness, and holds onto the ball way too long.
Geno gotta go!
@ not this year, which is what counts.
I just want to know who you want to turn to at QB. If you say Howell, I'm sorry but I'm taking you seriously.
😊
Trade away dk metcalf to work on the oline
This show sucks bump and Stacy just terrible
It seems Seattle teams just let the fans have false hope and string them along. When your in control of your own destiny. Go for the juggler. Mariners , Seahawks same outcome. Mariners blowing a 10 game lead to a team that eventually made the ALDS. Seahawks are a game ahead of the Rams only to collapse against the Packers at home no less. For those drinking the G.S. koolade need something better like some Fireball. 😅
we are not 10-7 team BTW
The Vikings will end up breaking your heart. Which might be fun to watch. 😅
Corny lol
Get rid of Geno and draft Quinn Ewers. Geno cost us to lose yet again to the Rams. All the high offense teams and top playoff teams have a very good qb. Sam Darnold took the next step. Hope the seahawks go after him.
Absolutely yes get rid of Geno, and absolutely not on Ewers.
@ExaltedSeahawksFan Why not on Ewers? Sam Darnold would be our starter.
@ExaltedSeahawksFan Trey Lance or Justjn Fields then.
Great idea, and also draft a Defensive end, Tyler Batty would be a excellent choice
This coach sucks but at least hes getting paid for 6 years to make is us the joke in the nfc west everyone needs a clown.
He turned around the defense that was awful last year. Keep off drugs homie
Staying on the same path ? history will repeat it self next year...
