    Watched a few other HF trailer wiring videos and they kinda rushed through it. Appreciated your methodical demo and description. Thanks a lot!

    Thank you. On the running lights (close to tongue) using an eye connector you grounded to the back of the bolt holding the light. At the back, stop/indicator lights, you grounded to the frame. Can’t get my lights to work... I used the mounting bolt on all 4 lights to attach the ground eye con. to & didn’t remove any paint. Will try exactly how you did it.
    For the back connections I used a heat shrink butt connector with another heat shrink skin... I’m wondering if I should sautér the wires instead.
    On the sides I used the Harbor Freight included “side by side “ blue plastic connectors to connect the two brown wires. Should I rethink that as well? I.e.Just START OVER. 😂😁. Also, with power to the light plug/harness turned on, should I get a “live wire” reading on from my volt tester? Multimeter?
    Thank You! This really helps!

      I always saunter my connections they are less likely to pull apart. If your trailer plug is plugged to the car and the lights are on you should get a live reading but only if the light is on.

      High Desert Homestead Thank you for your reply. I’m using a Hopkins 7 blade to 4 flat adapter. Truck running, lights on, the adapter “glows” indicating it’s live, but no trailer lights, and no reading from the volt tester or multimeter. I’m thinking the wire terminal is bad. Thanks again for your video and instructions... the best out there. 👍🇺🇸🇨🇱

    I bought one of these used. They’re great little trailers

      So far I have hauled some scrap iron to the junk yard and it has pulled really well. Thanks for watching.

    How come you didn’t use the included blue cable connectors for the side lights? Just curious because I built my trailer and it’s not working so I’m wondering if it’s because I used those incorrectly

    • @HighDesertHomestead
      @HighDesertHomestead  2 роки тому +1

      Those blue wire clamp connectors hardly ever work or for very long. They oxidize and corrode. I sauder and shrink wrap every connection. That way I dont have to worry about it coming loose corroding later.

      @@HighDesertHomestead That makes sense, so basically what you do is you cut the main line, and tie in the side lights and solder all three of those together?

      Yes sir.

      @@HighDesertHomestead Thanks for you reply. I did the same and that's what fixed my problem. Lights work perfectly now. Thanks!

    I think the license plate mount is backwards.

    The way you ran the wire though the holes where it folds. Im assuming you don't plan on ever folding it because I think the wire needs to go under and leave some loose wire for it to fold and not through it where the wire is tight and risk pinching it?

    • @HighDesertHomestead
      @HighDesertHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      No, I basically made it into a tilt trailer and it works real well. I did have to leave some slack at the tongue so when I tilt the trailer it doesn't pull the wire. It has really been a work horse for us.

    I love the horses, and that looks like a great wiring kit and I bet that last a long time.

    Step by step and straight to the point, thanks! Currently wiring my HF trailer now, do the self tapping screws for the ground wires come with it or will I need to go grab some?

    • @HighDesertHomestead
      @HighDesertHomestead  3 роки тому

      You'll have to go grab some they do not come with them

    The instructions that came with the lights are very vague. This helped me TONS!! Thanks, buddy!
