    • @Honeneko.
      @Honeneko. 24 дні тому +4

      @@48pluto Everyone is different. Some people don't have that time to walk 5 miles or be active at all. It's not fair to say it's common sense, if you don't have the option. Calorie counting helps. Substitutions for slightly lower calorie options help. Slightly reducing portion sizes and or splitting up meals can help. It's a journey and not a quick fix.
      In most cases, fighting the feeling of being hungry, is the bigger struggle. Aside from drinking black coffee, most want to stay away from other appetite suppressants. The option that made the rounds, might be way out of normal people's price point. And I highly oppose the idea of trying to make it yourself.

    One note: Sugar doesn't have alot of calories. It has the same amount of calories as protein (4kcal/g), while fat has ALOT (9kcal/g). But sugar is much less satiating and also it doesn't keep you full nearly as long as protein, due to a number of factors. That is one of the reason why you want to avoid sugar, not because of the amount of kalories but because it's easier to overeat.

    The difference in calories between chicken and steak is rather trivial assuming the rest of your diet is low in sugars and junk you have easily used steak to accomplish the same results.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 24 дні тому +10

      Not true. While the calories between 4oz of chicken breast, and 4 Oz of sirloin steak is only about 40 calories. (Larger difference with fattier cuts of beef.) the amount of fat and protein is wildly different. If you are losing weight your body is already flooding your liver with fats. Because you are in a calorie deficit your body must burn your body fat, and that all goes into the liver, which is already struggling for overweight people. So low fat is key, not to overtax your liver. And chicken has 10 less grams of fat per serving. Nevermind that Guga is weight training and working on building muscle. And you need protein for that. Chicken breast has 11 more grams of protein per serving than a sirloin steak would. Also that extra 40 calories difference can go a long way in vegetable sides to help get more nutrients, and stay full longer.

    • @LimitedState
      @LimitedState 24 дні тому +3

      @@borderlandsveteran I beg to differ, this wasn't an opinion. I literally lost 90lbs last year doing exactly what I said. Not only that but I was mainly eating steak and fruit.. So you might think you have the data and numbers on it but you don't because I'm living proof to the opposite. I think the culprit is a misunderstanding of fat intake and content in the liver that causes the confusion. ?

    • @remnant24
      @remnant24 24 дні тому

      @@borderlandsveteran Fat has accounted for nearly half our macro intake for millions of years of evolution, more than protein. The liver is a champ at processing fat and it will take a lot more than that to "overtax it" (barring some kind of liver condition). This is especially true of animal fat, which the digestive system is highly efficient at deriving nutrients from unlike carbs. When you consume more calories than your body needs, the excess energy is stored in the body as fat regardless of the macro type, so the OP's statement is very much correct.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 24 дні тому +4

      @@remnant24 you speak of healthy people, not overweight people. And a lot of overweight people have problems with fatty livers. But I see you completely ignored the part of about Guga weightlifting and how Chicken has 11 more grams of protein per serving over beef. But go off.

    • @borderlandsveteran
      @borderlandsveteran 24 дні тому +3

      @@LimitedState at no point did I say you couldn’t lose weight, I see you purposely misconstruing my reply. I said that it is not true that steak can be substituted and get the exact same results. You have to adjust your diet to accommodate steak because it’s got significantly less grams of protein, and much higher fat. Not everyone’s weight loss journey is the same, and you can’t just copy paste your results onto another. Someone who is trying to build muscle like Guga explicitly stated he was in his video is going to want to reach for chicken breast which is 79% protein. Which is much much higher than steak. It just is. Plain numbers. 37% more protein over steak for the same portion. If you don’t consume enough protein while losing weight your body canabalizes your muscles. For the amount of calories, (40 less than steak) Guga gets 37% more protein. And protein not only builds muscle through weight loss, but it keeps you full longer, so you don’t have as many cravings. You would have to adjust your steak diet to either consume more steak, or take supplements, or eat other foods (more calories) to supplement the diminished protein content. It’s just not a plain, “sub it out, it’s just as good situation.”

    Please Guga, make a whole series about these recipes! I have to lose weight but after years of trying I never reached the goal just because no matter how much I try with being creative, it's difficult for a guy that loves good food to just eat rice and chicken breast every day. (I don't eat junk food or snacks, but my main dishes are usually good dishes and usually delicious = calories).
    The real problem is that who makes fit recipes or healty recipes are PTs or doctors who don't think about giving good recipes but only on macros and calories. As I like to say: They eat to live well, we (I think most of this community and also you) live for eating well. If you can achive eating well and living well at the same time I think anybody can follow a diet, and you got to the point!
    I never had hype to follow some fit recipes like now, Thank you Guga!

      I recommend just cutting out the carbs and sugar. Then increase your protein intake. It'll help keep you fuller longer and you won't have to count calories. Just limit your eating time to an 8 hour window or only eat once a day. Typically, I'll eat 1 ilb of meat, eggs, dairy and I won't be hungry again till the following day. I'm down 16ilbs and I feel great. I still have another 50-70ilbs to go.

      A few tips that can help is to have a large glass of water before the meal, and also start by eating a good portion of veg. This way you won't be as hungry when eating the main course, naturally reducing portion sizes. Salsa is great, and most variants are low calory high flavor. Gordon Ramsay has a pretty nice broccoli soup that can be used as an appetizer/snack before the meal to lose weight. Making protein shakes is a good way too, as they are usually high satiety with low calorie. Frozen raspberry and chocolate protein powder is a favorite of mine, often helps make the not fantastic flavor more palatable. I've seen several people have success with just adding a bit of healthy stuff first, so they have a bit less appetite for high calorie food later, without needing to actually change what they eat. Beyond that: Chinese style steamed fish(Qing zheng yu), can be a fantastic low energy dish. Congee is another low calorie classic, which has a lot of potential for creativity and variation.

    Looking good, sir.
    Might I suggest looking into tagine. While the term now include the dishes classically cooked in one, the conical Moroccan slow cooker brings juicy to a new level. Give your meat a sear; then add diced onion. To this add spices, longer cooking veggies, and liquid. At the end, add your fast cooking veggies. Done right, the meat will be succulent due to the unique braise/steam cook while the veggies will be tender or crisp and the remainder cooked into an incredible sauce.

    I find it funny that he said the reason he ate chicken instead of steak is because it has less calories. I lost a bunch of weight on a carnivore diet and all I ate was ribeye steaks and ground beef in different forms. Carnivore diet is so easy because there is no calorie counting. Just eat until you are full and when I got home at night, I'd eat half of what I ate for breakfast. Lost 60lbs in just a few months.

    I was in great physical shape until I had 3 back surgeries in a 4 year period (between 2010-2014)-I weighed about 170 (height 5’6”)…17” biceps…didn’t quite have a 6-pack…but pretty close; and a 32/33” waist. Since the last surgery, in particular (which I had just 6 months before retiring from a 25+ year military career), I’ve struggled with weight. I’m at around 225 pounds now with a “beer” gut and a 40-42” waist.

I skewer the cubes and cook on the grill or in the air fryer. The yogurt seems to tenderize the chicken and the spices give it a little boost.... Eating healthy but not suffering.
