    0:08 of course @Kurgan. Not EVERYONE got their copy yet 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. I’m guessing gorillas, snakes, & [eeurgh] Spiders haven’t yet acclimatised to the Scottish heelans´ or maybe oor midgie clouds are too defensive… they did keep out the Roman invasions.

    Don't know why but your unboxing made me think of a strange idea... What if the tiles used in JOD were AI art? The more I look at them now that they've arrived, the more suspicious I get.

    Do you think that this expansion moves away from what heroquest is?

    • @HeroQuestFans
      @HeroQuestFans 7 днів тому

      No. This is built similarly to Rise of the Dread Moon: a hodge podge of ideas (gimmicks, concepts) inspired by homebrew rules from the community. there are optional rules here that can be ignored (like the turn order, incapacitation) and the main real difference here is the alternate order of quests (the Japanese edition allowed you to skip certain quests if desired, ATOH remake did this as well, and some fans in the EU days talk about playing the quests in whatever order they wanted). the large number of "gimmicked" monsters here may seem like a lot, but really it's just that they gave unique minis to monsters that in the past were merely defined in quest notes (the "ranged" skeletons and goblins for example).

      Ultimately this is still a family board game where a group of archetypal heroes progress from point A to point B within a tiled "dungeon" map, searching for things, drawing cards, rolling dice, fighting monsters, using powers, collecting treasure (and then buying stuff with that treasure!), and Zargon overseas the whole thing. the basic gameplay is the same, though a few new options are added for variety or to tinker with the difficulty with an emphasis on replay value. the characters and storyline, etc. can all still be drawn from that same well of inspiration, 1990's Warhammer, and pop culture fantasy concepts from that era (even the dinosaurs work... Jurassic Park was a smash hit in 1993 which was at the tail end of HeroQuest's original run but dinosaurs like this were a concept in both WHFB as well as D&D plus also featured in an early Stephen Baker game from that same year: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1081/die-schlacht-der-dinosaurier ). It's still HeroQuest, even if the complexity is slightly higher, but I would say equivalent to something like Rise of the Dread Moon, which to me is still HeroQuest even if it's slightly more advanced (Zargon should read over the new rules sections a few times and review the quest before playing, whereas earlier booklets he can almost just go in cold and figure it out as they play).

    I clicked on your video to see what you have to say about set. Yes other UA-camrs have gotten theirs early, yes they put their videos out before you did. Big deal. Make YOUR video, don't worry about what the other dudes said. I honestly think you should just unbox it and tell us about it and how YOU see it, not what other dudes did/said.
    Just because a more famous UA-camr does it first doesnt mean you can't do you. I
    found it very annoying every comment on something was about Ash or some other Tuber.....
    I'm still waiting for mine in the mail, so Grats on your pick up.

      Yeah I laid it on too thick, just because we got it doesn't mean "everyone" did! I was glad a lot of people got it early. The original release date of September 1st is still a good measuring stick... surely by then it will be widely available to all who want it. I do feel bad for the fans in Spain however who have reported that once an expansion sells out in their native language, they don't restock it, which to me is a very foolish policy.
