I have the same Kolpin plow on my ATV. For it I also bought & installed rubber flap (for top of blade), corner marker posts and 1 x side universal side wing (made it fit) and 2" PVC pipe on its cutter blade (to protect my gravel driveway). I also bought / installed a Snatch Block with 2" wheel (can also use 2.5" wheel version) - for its hoist steel cable. These upgrades are worth it as well....
I thought you were going to eliminate the hook and just tie the winch rope to the plow loop. But yeah, your way is good too. I'm sure you keep that hook in the ATV kit just in case you need it later while away from home. I have a manual lift on my Cycle Country ATV plow. I can attest that 2" of extra lift is a big deal when your plow blade catches and snags on everything while trying to maneuver your machine. BTW, those are cool tire chains!
That hollow braid spectra type line is so slippery i just respliced it so i just kept the loop (&hook for later) and used the shackle. Thats how we rig our winches on commercial fishing boats so i figured if its good enough for that it'll work for my application. Thanks for watching

I did the same thing last year, but I used the loop next to the angle lever for an extra inch. It does not interfere with changing the angle.
i like it! good idea! i have a 2005 cat 500m and just ordered the kolpin switchblade for it. will be doing this to mine as well! thanks for the idea
Glad I could help. The brackets are universal but they work. I wish i would've mounted mine out to the front just a bit more
