Would have got closer to the buildings but they were playing Airsoft.
Maybe I will do a revisit when the weather is better and they are not playing war games.
I may have made an error with the date 1965 and not 1969
The Hampshire Flyer I thought they were all running away from you- didn’t want to be on camera. Great video mate. Glad to see you’ve brushed the cobwebs off the old Mavic and phantom.
They only started running when they saw the guns attach to the drone LOL Great place to fly around, mark.
Nice overflight , please do another when you can :)
Nice footage. I drive past most days on the A4. My father was stationed here in the 50s.
So Pleased to have found this as my fathers service records show he was based here for 2 years June 1942 to May 1944 before heading south to cross to Normandy on D Day he was a Bomb Disposal Armourer with the 25 Group Bombing Development Wing and transferred to France with 6235 Bomb Dispoasal Flight, thank you.
Like it a lot nice video well done .
Thank you Roger glad you enjoyed watching it
A nice and interesting video and history! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for stopping by 501Stratos 👍
Great footage, the guys who run the airsoft site look after it very well however it’s unsure as to how long those buildings are going to last standing. I’ve been to the sites plenty of times and it’s intriguing to find the history of the site and it’s amazing! The drone work really does it justice too.
WOW Mark! You told an excellent story with this video....thanks for taking us back! Very nice. 👍
Thank you Chris for stopping by. I'm glad you enjoyed it. have a great weekend my friend
Nice flying Mark. Interesting location and nice to have historical context. Thanks for sharing.

Thumbs up ere' Mark, another great place you have found! Looks an interesting place to explore! Look forward later in the year for a closer look and you may even join in!!!! Many thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for the thumbs up Shaun, will definitely return later in the year, but I don't think I'll be participating in the Airsoft,🙈 enjoy the rest of the week and thanks for stopping by.
So very evocative. Awesome Marc. Yes, go back when the hoards aren't there - though the moody skies only add to it in my opinion. Brilliant. Si.
Certainly makes you think of the days gone by Si, and all the men and women that served our country :)
will definitely go back for a revisit. thanks for stopping by Si, I appreciate your support.
This was wonderful. So Rich history. Beautiful

I think it could have been better if they weren't playing war games.

Great place to fly and good footage, very interesting to see and read about these old places, thanks!
Hi Mark. A shame history isn't more preserved to honor the men who fought during those war's. The building are let go vandalized real terrible. Cool flight and history lesson. Wow is that your son flying. What I saw he is doing well. Maybe get more of his flying on video to check his progress and keep him interested in flying. Thank you for the video brother nice to see your back.
Kim nothing like a bit of father/son competition!
Kim nearly 50 years of standing empty it is a shame to see it rot away. Yes that is Calvin he took a flight with the phantom around the airbase😁
That's right. Last year I flew this huge area alone all the time. Now my friend has his own quad and will be way more interesting. Don't worry if I end up aggravating him to much he wont be able to catch me if it turns in to run after me and kick my butt lol
Go for it Calvin. I swear he has grew some what ya feeding him lol. Nice to see father and son flying. Maybe get a video of Calvin's skills.
Kim he eats like a horse always grazing LOL he’s growing up so quick now its unreal.
Amazing footage! What an interesting place too! Great as always my friend! Doug
Thanks for stopping by Doug, I appreciate your comments and support.
As you flew over and by the old buildings, I was imagining way back when you could only get that view from a plane. How cool is that? Thanks for sharing...
We have technology to thank for that. 👍 it’s great that the average person can now go out and capture these wonderful images.
What aircraft were operated out of yatesbury?
DH.9s
@@TheHampshireFlyer Thanks for the speedy reply. Just researched the type.
