Geoff said this was his passion work. I think it took him almost 2 years to get the arrangement the way he liked and to do it at a time where Rachel and Emoni were available. Rachel was a part of the on the road cast for Wicked and she does a lot of Bway stuff. Voice Play are often referred to as the "Theater Kids" so you come to expect a show from them. Emoni is in a few of their videos.

Pausing is a lot better than talking over the music and missing parts of it, so don’t worry about pausing.

Thanks. After I recorded this I watched Hannah's vid and saw how much she paused, so I don't feel as bad anymore. Besides, I'm here to give commentary. This is not a place for someone to watch the performance.

Also you miss things. There were a few times when you were talking and looking at the camera and missed an interesting vocal or visual bit.

Just do you know, voiceplay doesn’t copyright reactions. (At least they don’t tend to, it’s corporations that do that against their will)
    Also it’s said like L-E :)
their set for their newest is next level. The editing is phenomenal.
The microphones aren’t used in the video and are there as props. i used to think that the videos were live when I was younger.
Layne is a baritone who can sing both higher and has sang bass before (in the song everywhere you look which is a cover by voiceplay and on layne’s channel, a cover for his daughter called evil like me where he sings a very solid D2)
Also also, I prefer a lot of pauses.
And layne and geoff both share arrangement duty.
Loved the reaction. Looking forward to more. :)

Good point. My new intro also has a claim over it (versus my old one), so that's probably why this one got claimed. Didn't really look closely at it, to be honest.

      @@beansproutuncreative I wouldn’t have either tbh. I don’t really make videos so I wouldn’t know.

This puzzled me for a while then I realised the image is reversed. Eli is short for Eliezer and pronounced to rhyme with jelly. :) It's Eli who normally does the lighting. Sometimes creates backgrounds too. Also although Geoff and Layne do almost ll of the arrangements, about half and half, Eli has done one, which is Eleanor Rigby, and it's beautiful. Tony Wakim is an ex-member of the group and appears in earlier videos, look for the guy with the twinkly eyes. He left to join Layne at Pattycake productions.

Pausing is fine as long as what you're saying is pertinent to the subject.

talking over the music is a lot more annoying than pausing, so don't worry about it. talking over it means you miss the details.

Geoff did the arrangement for this one, with the vision of it being a concert-type performance. But I love that even in this setting the members of the group do react to each other. (Some groups think they need to line up, look straight forward, and just perfect their voice. There’s no warmth to their performance. )
Eli did the lighting for this one. His skills at lighting have gotten better and better. Tony Wakim is a former VP baritone, and currently owns Pattycake Productions with Layne. Although many of VoicePlay’s videos are filmed there this one was an exception. (You should check out VP’s newest video, Greatest Showman, which was filmed in a scale model music box set at Pattycake. Rachel joins them for this one also.)

I really want to check it out but I've never seen the movie. I still might with how much I'll probably enjoy the performance, regardless.

@@beansproutuncreative I’m sure you’ll recognize some of the songs, but it’s a great even if you don’t recognize anything. (I’ll give you a hint to start out - if at one point you think it sounds like everybody is beatboxing - they are!)

The video is backward. Geoff calls this his seven-minute Beast! years in the making, so glad it's done. Eli did the lighting. #TheatreKidsOfACappella.

Yeah, I flip the footage for copyright reasons. Though, in the end it doesn't do any good and it's always the sound the gets the copyright grab.

Making their own arrangements allows them to change it according who they can get as a guest. I think it was with Hoist the colours when the original featured artist could not make it because the whole covid thing and they (Geoff) had to rearrange it to fit Jose in it.
Plus whoever is in charge of the arrangement is in charge of the whole production, (director, set design, lights, costume, video editing etc. ) with help of the some others. Kathy Castellucci is Geoff wife and she is allways the production manager no matter who arranged it.
Even though they use prerecorded audio in their videos, the microphones are legit, and beatboxers and bass singers do use different mics that picks up low notes better.
