'Life is not a series of gig-lamps symmetrically arranged; life is a luminous halo, a semi-transparent envelope surrounding us from the beginning of consciousness to the end… the proper stuff of fiction is a little other than custom would have us believe it.’ - Virginia Woolf, Modern Fiction
Multi-award-winning choreographer Wayne McGregor has long been at the cutting edge of choreography. He has won widespread acclaim for collaborative works that often extend far beyond the familiar boundaries of ballet. For this new production McGregor enmeshes themes from Virginia Woolf's landmark novels, including Mrs Dalloway, Orlando and The Waves, with elements of her letters, essays and diaries. Woolf Works expresses the heart of an artistic life driven to discover a freer, uniquely modern realism, and brings to life Woolf’s world of 'granite and rainbow' where human beings are at once both physical body and uncontained essence. This is McGregor’s first full-length production for The Royal Ballet and sees him reunited with acclaimed British composer Max Richter (Infra and Sum), who creates a specially commissioned score incorporating electronic and live music.
Wayne McGregor has created more ballets on Edward Watson than on any other dancer - watch them rehearse Woolf Works

It's fascinating to see his "vocabulary". Different choreographers have varying accents and percussive sounds. It's cool to see this relationship of the choreographer and a dancer who know his language.
Ed is so expressive and precise, wow. Had the privilege of watching him dance in new york
Brilliant teacher/ choreographer.. Good job doll!
I love getting to know more about the creating process. Lovely. Wayne and Edward... What a duo! 😍😍😍
I just received my copy of the recently released full length version of Woolf Works. I so admire this ballet. Kudos to Wayne McGregor!! I so enjoyed the magnificent performance by the mesmerizing Allessandra Feri, as well as outstanding work by Osipova, McRae, Underwood and Lamb. But my eyes, as ever, were drawn to Ed in every scene he danced in. His work in this ballet is so deeply moving and yet thrilling.
Edward is very expressive in his movement. I love him in Mayerling.

Simply Magnificent!!
I absolutely love this!
look at those calf muscles! male ballet dancers have the best legs
Are those real dance movement words, or has Mr McGregor created his own language? Ed, you are incredible. Everyone can tell you are dancing from the heart.
I always enjoy these videos so much. Hope we'll get to see Ferri rehearse too. ;) Why can't we get a cinema screening of this ballet? Full-length Wheeldons get screenings and next season we'll get Scarlett's Frankenstein in the cinema too.
