Loved this! I have a Brother embroidery machine but haven't done much with it. You encourage me. Thank you!

Hi Ashley, so glad to see your embroidery project and tips you gave, I also used your idea about using a USB cable into the port on the V5LE. Thanks for this project and hopefully more to come.

Hi Ashley how do you fit a bulky item under the press - like a hoody or tubular items

    • @applelover53

I show how to stitch on a sweatshirt in this video, same concept for hoodie just take your time it will fit under the presser foot. ua-cam.com/video/lzFaUNwnOYk/v-deo.htmlsi=p1GifmSHXfjniKnE

@@applelover53 Oh no i meant the press - i have a ten needle machine - but does the heat press you have lift higher to fit bulky items in for pressing, thanks

Oh sorry, anything bulky with my press i either put in sideways or upside down, so a hood or handles will either hang out the side or at the front closest to me to reduce the bulk, but i dont use hoodies a lot. If you are running a business doing nothing but hoodies than maybe consider a different press thats best suited for that

Do you have a recommended site for buying the T towel and Tote bag blanks you use? I’d like to get over the fear of my embroidery machine and actually use it (rediculous I Know). It’s knowing which stabilisers to use and when. I suppose I should practice on some old fabric. Your video was very interesting.

Hi, sorry no recommended sites I buy all mine through a wholesale account in bulk. In the past ive bought tea towel packs from Morrisons the 3 pack ones are decent quality and ive embroidered on them for gifts, ive also bought hand and bath towels from Tesco and again embroidered on them for gifts, dont think i did videos but think i may have posted photos on my instagram. The easy rules to remember are
If you wear it, dont tear it so you would use cutaway on anything you wear, if you watched the pink sweatshirt video i did earlier in the year i showed i used cutaway, plus an extra layer of tearaway just because of the bulk of the sweatshirt, i could have also used 2 layers of cutaway
Always add a water soluable topper if stitching on clothing, the stuff that looks like clingfilm, its so the stitches dont get lost in the fabric even if not fluffy or dense.
If using fluffy or dense fabrics always use WST with any design, again it stops the design from being lost in the pile.
Most everything else you can use tearaway on the bottom and WST if needed on top.
Dont be afraid I have a sheet and if im unsure of a design or want to test stitch I use the sheet, i use the stabiliser that i think will be appropriate for the item i intend to stitch on eventually.
If the sheet is think double layer and i would probably hoop the test stitch on the sheet, but on the actual projects i always float because they are usually more substantial than a sheet.
I think i do have a few tea towel projects in the sewing playlist, they maybe showing other techniques or features of embriliance but i think i do show me stitching.

@@applelover53 Thanks. That's very helpful. I don't know why I've been intimidated by it. I'm not like that with all my cutting machines etc.and I use the sewing part of the machine all of the time. I bought all the different types of stabilisers ages ago but the embroidery add on is still in the box. I will definitely kick myself up the backside now and get on and give it a try.

Just start simple do you have software, if so make up a saying and stitch it out. Or Creative Fabric have loads of embroidery files use something from there on old fabric then try it out on a tea towel, you will get confident the more you use it, ive found that out for myself Im still learning but I use my machine lots more now than I did. You will be great

@@applelover53 Thanks. Yes my machine comes with lots of designs plus a basic design software. I’ve also got quite a few freebie files from Creative Fabrica. I think now I know how you hoop yours up and which stabiliser to use I feel more confident. And you’re right “Practice Makes Perfecr”
