    I’m back watching these flintknapping videos of yours after about 4 months or so of experience knapping myself and I can’t thank you enough for these lessons as you’re the person I learned from when I first started. All the information a person needs delivered in a calm, patient and friendly manner. Thanks again, brother.

    I was just watching the Cody knife video, and I immediately wanted to see if you had a primer on why you abraded the edges. Luckily, this video is the second from the top of your long-forms, so that was really convenient. I may never use this skill, but I still like to just know the how and why of things. Thank you sir.

    Great explantation! I made my first stone age arrow a few weeks ago (with a stone point I made) and the point came out of the haft first shot. What do you use for pine pitch glue? I tried using just charcoal with it, and apparently that was very brittle. Also, do you have tips for correctly using it?

    • @DonnyDustsPaleoTracks
      @DonnyDustsPaleoTracks  Рік тому +2

      Congratulations on the arrow! That’s awesome. I do have a video on making pine pitch glue. Appreciate you watching!

      Thanks for the reply. Watched the video, does the moose or deer poop bind it together well?

    • @DonnyDustsPaleoTracks
      @DonnyDustsPaleoTracks  Рік тому +2

      @@izzyc.6559 yes. Heated pine resin is very brittle. The poo and wood char make it softer. If you are still getting hard pitch…add some wax to it. That can help as well.

    Was definitely one of the things I was most curious about.
    Another thing that I wonder about is why bother with pressure flaking or other such procedure on flakes that are literally razor sharp?

    • @kylefessenden3111
      @kylefessenden3111 Рік тому +3

      For a similar reason, actually. When pressure flaking a piece that's already crazy thin and sharp, you make it more lens shaped, making it stronger. A thin, flat point will snap much sooner than a relatively thin, but thicker, lens shaped point

      It’s a little soft for a heavy bow. I’ve never made from resin based trees, but I would play with it.
