    I largely agree with her except 2 points
    1. On the Titanic, the persons to escape on the rafts are the ones with the best chance at surviving, who would be the strongest. Mainly, because the strong will certainly die sinking and the weak have a high chance of dying by the temperature and may have problems rowing. But that was more Trevor's allegory. But the idea of how to save the maximum persons should prevail.
    2. Men are also reared to value husbandship. Yes, granted it is mainly structured in patriarcal tenets. Not so much at the wedding but in the marriage.

    about marriage being an achievement... yes, i was 24 unmarried doing well for myself... taking care of myself and one day my mom says to me... when are you going to get married. and i was thinking to myself. that's something I'm supposed to do to be complete. I was stunned. is that what people mean when they say I'm looking for a girlfriend or boyfriend? they're looking for a spouse? So, i went looking for a person to marry. He wasn't looking for me, but it was my responsibility to do this? and what a mistake. I thought then that it was being available for him that was going to make the difference of being myself and being married? I've been divorced for 30 years. I've had no interest in that again. I'm going to be something else or someone else again. and I'm going to be 70 next January. I'm an old bird and still asked if I don't want someone to take care of me... someday. NO!

    Agree with everything that was said, but just wanted to point out I think it's important to understand the difference between feminism and toxic feminism. Some people might see toxic feminism and not realize that's not what the feminist movement is about. Both genders need to remember to raise each other up and not try to raise themselves by putting the other down.

    • @obiflex

      Feminism is inherently very toxic. Chimamanda tries to give it an appealing face but in real life, feminism is always brutally toxic

    • @Babyblue115
      @Babyblue115 8 місяців тому +2

      How often do we actually see toxic feminism? How often does men use the prevelance of ”toxic feminism” as a way to shun feminism in of itself as toxic because they would rather not listen and learn or change their behaviour and thinking. There is probably always gonna be toxic parts of movements. Because movements are not controlled by anyone and there is no one controlling that everyone uses the word feminist correctly. Should we not teach people to see the nuances in a movement or ideology rather than letting them dismiss it.

    • @namelessnpc6689
      @namelessnpc6689 8 місяців тому +2

      @@Babyblue115 For the 2nd half of this: Yes, I agree. That's the point I was trying to make. As for the first part, I see toxic feminism far more than "healthy" feminism. So, it may be more difficult for me seeing your perspective as you say "as a way to shun feminism in of itself", but I'm aware that it occurs. More often than not, however, I see women using feminism as a way to shun or dismiss male gender issues. Maybe this makes it clearer: from my perspective, I see feminism and "toxic feminists" as two separate groups of people.
