Here is a HUGE tip. Get yourself 4 truckers 2 inch ratchet straps and 4 pieces of 2 inch angle metal pieces the width of you tires. Cut off the verticle sides one with 1/2 and the other with a 1/4" high. Put the ratchet through the holes in the wheels an mount the shorter 1/4" side on the side that will first hit the mud.........You can now get through ANYTHING muddy as you have metal paddles!! See ya on the trails.
It being exclusively a $500 car event is a misnomer, the rules are excessively lax. I think it was more fun worrying if our $400 beater would make it than bringing my equipped jeep though. gambler500.com/ has more details.
I'm watching the beginning of the video where they're showing the lineup. There is no way the some of these vehicles are only worth 500 bucks.. Some of these vehicles in the lineup looked like some pretty badd ass vehicles that are worth thousands of dollars
Though the spirit of the event is low-buck, the only real "rule" is just "run what you brung". People bring whatever they have on hand if they think it's cool, some are definitely more of a gamble than others. Our car was worth $500, but we ran into teams that had cars worth even less, and were in much worse shape IE: Team VANCHERO. The Chubbies video saying there is an enforced price limit is wrong.
You should really learn how to pronounce Madras before even thinking about coming to Oregon. It triggers us Oregonians on extreme levels when pronounced incorrectly. Other then that I loved the video though. The Gambler is great!
I've been on the fence about the gambler 500 but 14:54 convinced me.
