In about 1920s to 1930s, some Chinese intellectuals who have received musical trainings from western musicians made some attempts in organizing an orchestra of Chinese traditional instruments. The organization comes mature in 1950s with four major parts, namely bow-string, pluck-string, wind and percussion.
