Smith Forefront 2 First Impression

- I just picked up a Smith Forefront 2 helmet and here is my first impression of it. I also just did my first ride with it, good helmet, stayed in place, easy to adjust straps, and the padding did an OK job of keeping the sweat out of my eyes. I do like that this helmet has MIPS, and an adjustable visor. And the white color will help keep me cool in the sun while out on mountain bike adventures.

I need a new helmet…I like these style Smith helmets…the Engage, the Forefront 2, the Session. Still undecided….but my days of hardcore downhill are long over, more relegated to gravel and distance bikepacking. I wonder if the $250 is worth it. Like others said, I LOLed at the “broke brain” comment. Wife asked “what’s so funny?”….I just said “oh nothing”. It’s best that way!
Glad you got a good laugh in. My mom was a nurse and protected your head is one thing she always emphasized. $250 is on the high end, but one thing I like about this helmet is its easy to mount a light to the top. I used to do the occasional fat bike ride after work and this feature was appreciated. But I changed jobs last spring and now I can do more biking in the daylight.

I have one of the original $15 camera mounts designed for the original Forefront.. They tell you that it has a camera mount accessory.. But they do not make the mount anymore.. You have to find it used from 5-6 years ago.
