@@rajivkothur6407 a tackle or a big save are something which boost the team at the least motivated time and they are entertaining and bravery. That's why the youtube comps contain many tackles under the title defence. If you watch the full matches then you can see many other defending skill points.

honestly people over think it. the defender has to give you something. take what he gives you. if hes showing you line take it. if hes showing you inside take it. exploit it. its up to you to work hard in training and develop both shooting and crossing with both feet.

As a keeper, I find defenders never doing steps 3 and 4 enough or at all. They will stay 5-10 yards off the man with the ball and back pedal to the point where they screen me or are in my way. They will not pick up late runners or find an unmarked man either. It’s as if there is a general amnesia or inability to defend.
That is because you are an american and tactical understanding there is zero to nil.

Great tips! One question tho: If you receive the ball in a stand still situation, how are you supposed to build up speed?
It could be little passed to gain speed or a straight pass back to the first passer Or I guess just rely on ur speed
I try this sometimes. Receive the ball and just stand there. Wait for him to close down. Still wait. And then he makes the challenge finally for the ball and then you take a touch past him. Doesn't work every time but when it does. It takes their soul away.
It requires a lot of calm and is risky too.
Especially against really technical players. They don't make the final challenge that easily. They progress with easy steps and that requires more courage and reaction speed from you

I was in practice and coach showed us the jockeying trick and after that no one could beat the defender. So like how are you supposed to beat someone when they are jockeying.
If your dribbling at the defender and there jockeying then there’s going to be a point when they have to step in because your getting to close to a shooting opportunity, if they never do step then shoot and if they do then you do your skill and then shoot
