Fun Fact about the coins: Before Mario Kart 7 was released, coins were only present in Super Mario Kart and here, and their main purpose is to increase your top speed. But I believe this is the only game which you do *NOT* want to be out of coins when racing in GP. This is because if you get poked by another racer while having no coins at all, you will spin like you got hit by a shell or a star. And that's just fun... And as you got to experience in Bowser Castle 2 (about here, 7:59 I think), whenever you are spinning after being hit and then you get poked by another racer, you will keep spinning and get pushed aside. This may lead you to an extremely unlucky situation in a race, if all variables are in set for that event to happen, that is. Still... Also, I forgot to say it in the previous video, but you can actually "plant" your red shells and make them wait for the first racer it spots. Just press down on the D-Pad before letting go of the L button, like shooting a green shell backwards. This mechanic only works for single red shells, and it's only present in this game. Be aware that CPU players can also do that, especially the ones that are in lower places. So that's it for now. See you again in Lightning Cup.
@@CustomStyleCajunTurkey Yes, that's why I said "I believe" in the comment above, and I confirmed it myself when I played SMK. But thank you for re-confirming it.

In SNES SMK, you would also spin out if you were hit without coins during GP.
