I think this song was made for a commercial for eyeshadow or some kind of women's cosmetics at 40 years ago.😊That's why at the end of the chorus, "MEH!"(which means eye in Japanese) and point at his eye 😉 Masayuki Suzuki and the backing vocalists together are called "RATS & STAR"😄The band name is "Whether you read it from the right or the left"... 🤭
1:59 When the other two heard him say, "I'm Suzuki Kiyomi," they all lost their composure. "Suzuki Kiyomi" is the older sister of Suzuki Masayuki, who is also famous as a proud soul singer in Japan.😊 Naturally, she has known the band members since childhood, and released a duet with Suzuki Masayuki called "Lonely Chaplin" in the 80s, which is still regularly ranked among the top karaoke duets today.😌 And my favorite song by Masayuki Suzuki is "Yume de Aetara (If I could meet you in my dreams)" ✨🕶
This was the first single released after the group changed its name from "The Chanels" to "Rats & Star." Rats & Star is a Japanese band. They used to be called the Chanels (later changed to SHANELS). (They changed their name to Rats & Star in March 1983[2]) The four vocalists painted their faces black and sang black music such as doo-wop and soul music. They were a large group of up to 10 people, including the musicians. They have been inactive for a long time, but have not officially disbanded.
What does "MEH!" mean? As I have explained in other comments, this song was created as a commercial song for a summer campaign for women's eye shadow and other cosmetics at the time.🌴☀🥵 And "MEH" means eyes in Japanese, and because this is an eyeshadow commercial, he is pointing at his eyes to emphasize it 😁 The title "MEGUMI" originally came from the name of a firefighting team that was established in a Japanese city in the 17th and 18th centuries. "GUMI" (or "KUMI") means team, and the team name was derived from the Japanese alphabet "hiragana." I think Japanese people know it from TV dramas called jidaigeki, so they named it "MEH" group of women, which means eyes.🤔Also, since "MEGUMI" has the same pronunciation as "megumi" (blessing), I think she is also saying, "You are a wonderful woman who is a blessing to me!" 👀😄 P.S."MEH" is one sound and can also represent a woman. The man is "O" 🤭

Thank you so much🥰
