Sad, sad, stupid, sad, regrettable, stupid.....that Brain Setzer isn't discussed among the absolute BEST pop/rock guitarists of the 20th century. He's got technique, taste, style, tone, and INTEGRITY. The guy is a MONSTER guitarist!
In the rare case Brian Setzer ever reads this, thank you so much for the Fender Bandmaster you sold me in 1993 at a guitar convention in Cleveland, Ohio! You made a 13 year old beginner guitar players entire year! Still have it too.
I'm 20 now, found these guys from listening to built for speed back when I was like 5 with my dad. I wish I could have been alive when these guys were around. Their music always know how to put some boogie in your step. I hope I can see them live someday.
I remember when these Cats hit the scene, they were all up and down MTV and they just Rocked. I loved their style their music it was just so damn cool. Still till this day, 02/04/2020 and I'm loving these guys. Hope Brian gets his hearing problem fixed and they get back together and make more real music unlike the massive shit that is top 40 radio today. Come on Cats come save music again!!!
My youth will forever be owned by The Stray Cats. I fell hook, line and sinker when I first heard them and then I lost my heart completely. My bedroom was absolutely covered in Stray Cat posters and Brian was my idol. Great memories of seeing them perform in all their glory back in the day (and beyond). What a trio.
layde1 me too. Everyone in school took the massive piss at first, because they were (to a man) all into punk/new wave/two-tone, etc at the time, but after their first appearance on Top of the Pops, they converted nearly everyone
***** First of all, if you're on my side, then fine, i apologize..Second , i'm not American, I'm Canadian,. The Stray,Cats, man, when they burst onto the scene it was like Wow where did these cats come from a bit like when Elvis hit the music scene in the fifties you just caught the bug & man you just loved it & couldn't get enough, love these rockin cats.
I've lost count of how many times I've seen The Stray Cats/BSO/68CBS. Always a great show, especially the early ones in the 80's at One Step Beyond in Santa Clara, Ca. How are these guys not in the Rock Hall?
I met Brian Setzer one evening by chance years ago at the Palomino. A friend of mine was performing. Brian came in and sat at my table and bought us all beer and talked with us as if he knew us all our lives. Brian could not have been a more real person. Since, then I have heard similar stories about him. Brian is just a cool cat, no way around that.
When they started out with their rockabilly/rock'n'roll revival they were 25 years on - now they are further away from their own origins. Seems to matter in some way but probably doesn't!
@@melgrant7404 They do and I bet Setzer is a perfectionist . Top, top class musician. Can't say much for this song's lyrics though - " Johnny Cash was shovelin' coal , Jerry Lee he was the brake man " . Groan , plus the irony - Jerry Lee Lewis never put the brakes on anything !
Too bad Slim Jim Phantom couldn't play the drums like he was asked. He plays a pigskin snare but was asked to play a calfskin snare so it wouldn't interfere with the bass player's rhythm. But Phantom just wouldn't go for it and it showed in the music cuz you could hardly hear the bass player.
What can i say about the legendary Stray Cats no competition the whole package. Still ❤u in 2023 especially Brian hes still handsome.

Do these guys ever age??? Amazing and Brian's guitar playing back in the 80's exposed me to the greats from the 50's...
As a producer & a drummer that was really fun & loved the final result cool to hear the plan & then all the parts work.😎😄😏

I keep wanting to sell Brian my Blonde Bassman just so a proper player can rock it properly. PM Brian if you need a primo Blonde Bassman.
I'm a huge Brian Setzer fan! I'm 13 and have a grass business to pay for all my guitar gear. Would you wanna make a deal for the bassman?
Thank's boys for your Rock n Roll. Good style .
I first saw them in Tacoma in 1983, with INXS as the opening act. Blew me away.
