I'm putting the show on right now and got cast as Grasshopper. I'm mad that they replaced all of his lines with Spider's. ALSO... THEY REPLACED TOO MANY DAMN SONGS
I feel like this version wasn't bad. I feel like the characters were casted well although James seemed like he was more of a man than a child. He sand his songs like he was in an opera which isn't bad just maybe not the best for the role. Spiker and Spounge were get and full of energy and the bugs were all very good. The set was beautiful and the lighting was well done. The music on the other hand I feel would have been better if there were a) more instruments or b) you used the actual audio made for the show. Having just the piano makes big numbers have so much less potential because there isn't enough music to back up the energy the actors give off. I feel for songs like middle for a moment and on yuour way home it worked but for money on that tree it especially didn't work. The timing was so strange and the song was cut in half which is sad because that's one of the more high energy songs that are fun for actors and audience. So basically the piano just didn't work. The rest of the show was fine is just there were a lot of things that can be improved. There's a lot of potential for the show and I feel like it could be better. I'll give it a 5/10. I know this was a year ago but I just thought I'd share.

The part of James should be played by a boy (not always) but it's a high part which is why it should only be performed in elementary and middle school
