People need to stop expecting slipknot when they click on any of these songs. It would be like clicking on a Stone Sour song and expecting slipknot. This side project of Joey's has nothing to do with any of his previous bands and it should be treated as something NEW. Personally I feel every song on the album is amazing and I can't stop listening to it.
Yeah - it's silly some of the things people say. I'm really bummed Joey isn't with Slipknot anymore. I hope they tell us why soon.

Keep Joey in Scar, he's got fresher material of his own to work with other than Clown and Corey's stuff interfering.

Fair enough but I prefer Joey's more groove oriented stuff in Scar The Martyr than the stuff he did with Slipknot in All Hope Is Gone.

Not a fan of the lyrics that much or the singer, but everything else is good. Out of the songs I've heard by them, so far this is the only one I like. I'm into heavier sounds but light stuff is good too.

The Scar The Martyr Sounds Pretty Cool as a first time Listiener. When Listiening to it its like Listiening to some Mosh Pit Music since most of you ppl has been in before, Which i never have, But any ways its kinda like Listiening to Between Maybe As Iron Maiden or Megadeath to that Degree, As Thrashing Music to that point, But its all good as long most of you like all this kind of music which is cvool by yall guys out there. So Enjoy all the new Music out there everyone. :)
I first heard the heavy, dark riffs and beats and I expected a much darker vocal performance. I was pleasantly surprised. Am I the only one that hears a similar vocal style and sound as that of Faith No More's? That's a compliment by the way. They were one of my first fav bands.

When I started seeing the comments about how much the singer is fucking terrible, knowing Joey's personality, taste in music, and just generally where he is in the music industry, I thought "Prepare myself for another Of Mice and Men, I see stars, Pierce the Veil or Bring me the horizon bullshit garbage of scream and whinny vocals."
What I got was much different. It was more softer and low. I guess the only complaint that I have is that there's too much vibrato making the singer sound like he's trying to hard. But's he's not bad at all. He's hitting the notes, he's staying in tune. His style of singing is just so off putting with the rest of the song.
My only major complaint is the production. Everything sounds a little dull or muted; know what I mean? Like they recorded this in a cave. It's super compressed and cold and needs to be a little warmer.
As for the screaming, I'm sorry to say, I like this style of screaming better. And that's not to say if he started screaming super high or super low that I would hate it. Nothing wrong with screaming in various styles; as long as the song calls for it. It's just for me and my personal taste, I like the more monotone/melodic screaming that you would be akin to hear on some Marilyn Manson, Tool, or Slipknot record. You can tell the vocal chords are being ripped, but the tone, and the melody is still present. My problem with screaming now of days is half the time you get bands that always do it so high that it makes your ears bleed, or so low you can't understand what they are saying. And we tag that as "edgy," or "emotional." and you can't criticize it, or otherwise you'll be known as a conformist or some shit. But, that's just a personal distaste.
With that out of the way, yes, this is more pop rock. I'm not a major fan of it, but I don't detest it either. I like bands under this genre such as Sevendust of Twelve Foot Ninja. But there are the bad bands out there, such as Nickleback or Seether.
Make no mistake though, this band is far from being amazing or terrible. They're just....ehhh. If Joey wants to do this, I'll let him do this. More power to him.

Rudi van Wyk cool man. They're quite melodic in parts, if grindcore is your sort of thing it might not be for you - but tracks like 'Blood Host' & 'Dark Ages' are much heavier than this track. Worth checking out but it might not be for your taste if you prefer more brutal metal genres. 😄 \m/
