They sold a lot of bags indeed, and it is proved by the number of real things - or knockoffs - you could see in the streets at that time and even today. Bravo Marc! I wonder if Gesquiere has already found a product as successful as some of those 2008 bags...

I Made Kesumayasa Marc Jacobs had issues with timing with the show of his own brand, that took place previously (before the LV show). So the public had to wait a very long time until he started. Suzy Menkes, the most respected fashion critic and journalist that existed at that time, who has to watch every show, the smallest to the biggest, was obviously there, and took the waiting very bad. She criticized Marc Jacobs like never before, and claimed that she would never watch a Marc Jacobs show again. Thing was, that just a few days later, she had to watch Vuitton, by Marc. This show. The hall was full, the biggest stars had come, Bernard Arnault was there, Suzy Menkes too. All the photographers of the whole industry were waiting, everyone was waiting. And the show wouldn't start. And people waited, the photographers began to scream and to yell, Suzy Menkes almost began to cry, and the show still wouldn't start. They waited for three hours. Then Bernard Arnault took his phone out (the clip went viral) and sent a message. A few minutes later, this show started. At the end, Marc, making his appearance on the runway, showed his tongue (in front of Bernard Arnault!) to Suzy Menkes. So he had his little moment of revenge. He claimed after that it wasn't his fault, that they had to redo the makup and hair of the girls because they came with the one of other shows. But that's not true, because in the following seasons, he played, and started super-early, so half of the chairs were empty, and the journalists had to run, and to arrive in the middle of the show. And even though Suzy was so powerful, he never had issues afterwards.
I think I really liked the advertisements for this collection. Shot by Mert& Marcus featuring 90s supermodels spread out over classic cars. Marc Jacobs I loved for Louis Vuitton. More than I like Marc Jacobs for Marc Jacobs. Who's personal transformation was so tight when he unveiled himself in the ads for his scent Bomb. He looks so hot.
One of MJ’s (if not the) WEAKEST collections as a WHOLE during his Creative Director tenure at LV. However it’s ONE OF His STRONGEST ACCESSORIES collections The clothes are really a mess even though that’s kinda the point.... but it’s so nonchalant it’s flimsy.
