Also a spoof of Nelson Eddy. Nelson Eddy, who played a singing Mountie in the movie "Rose Marie" with Jeanette Mac Donald, had a hit record with "Shortening Bread" in the 30's. Likely even Dudley's appearance is a caricature of Nelson Eddy.
Too, Major Edward Bowes and His Original Amateur Hour got the spoof treatment as well, right down to the Major's famous opening of "The wheel of fortune goes round and round and round she goes, and where she stops, nobody knows!" (By the time this first went to air, Ted Mack took over The Original Amateur Hour, which featured winners of regional talent competitions rather than Major Bowes' taking talent off the street. The Original Amateur Hour left the air in March 1969.)
At 22041 Dudley Do-Right was holding that dog he looks just like Mr. Peabody only he doesn't have any glasses! So sometimes I picture Dudley Do-Right saying the same line that he's got his man only he brought Mr. Peabody and inspector Fenwick said Dudley how many times do I have to tell you that's a dog not a man then Mr. Peabody said to inspector Fenwick excuse me but the name is Peabody and then inspector Fenwick said to Mr. Peabody be quiet then Mr. Peabody said "Yipe"! Really funny huh!?
Welk, you might like to know, got his start by way of the Gurney Seed and Nursery Company's radio station, WNAX out of Yankton, South Dakota, in 1925 doing the sunrise show with Welk's Novelty Orchestra.

Yup, my parents had pictures of Eddy and MacDonald on a bulletin board on a wall in our kitchen hallway next to pictures of Dudley and Nell. ❤

That's 'Snidely'.
Narrator: Paul Frees.
Nell Fenwick didn't deal with Nasty NOOGLE. Even Snidley Whiplash knows how American comedy is supposed to be written.
