Ian Robertson's immortal words of "He drops for World Cup glory" will always be with me.
It’s up there with they think it’s all over
Epic.
Rob Andrew screaming his lungs out in the background. Utterly spine tingling. Fantastic.
He was basically every England fan watching and listening as the ball went through the posts.
@@rmkw4291 I've never seen a pub go more nuts. Tripper's free-kick in the semi final v Croatia was close but I mean, the place went absolutely bezerk when Jonny slotted this. Pints and people going through the air. Clapham High Street. What a place to be that morning, afternoon and evening afterward. Would give everything to go back and experience that day again.
Mate stuff the 1966 football World Cup, that drop goal is the reason I play the greatest game in the world, I was ten when I saw Johnny win Englands first World Cup and I await the day for the north hemisphere to raise the Webb Ellis cup again
This still gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.
This is my 100th time watching this
@@Wolfsong27FlyHalfFullHeart this is my 1000th time, its my asmr
I love hearing Rob Andrew going mental in the background as the ball sails through the posts. Some said he was unprofessional, but if you can't enjoy a moment like that, then perhaps sport isn't for you, he was only doing what the whole of England was doing back home at the exact same moment. A great moment and just as enjoyable 15 years on as it was on that great day. Our day will come again.
Thank you, I just learnt it was Rob Andrew! I thought it was a fan in the back ground ! Never forget this moment though. The Aussies were up against a great Eng team and were underdogs, but they kept in it and I scared the whole time !
Why does watching this make me cry. It's Ian Robertson's commentary I'm sure. Very good.
Same here it's unbeatable rugby and Ian Robertson absolutely nailed it..🏴❤️🏉
First rugby game I ever watched, remember sitting on the sofa with my dad at 8 years old, so amazing :')
I was ten and I knew that day was blessed, same year my eldest niece was born
2003 Standing in a bar in Fremantle with devastated Aussies all around, no voice left, going mental with the other Poms. Sheer bliss.
Never get tired of watching this!
I’ve stared at this for five hours straight
I love this commentary. This is so patriotic. I am so grateful to anyone who've heard this while watching Wilkinson's drop goal. :') So beautiful.
James Doe A Scotsman was the commentator. Ian Robertson BBC retires Feb 2018.
Patriotic? He's Scottish pal hahaha. Still the best piece of commentary ever
“World Cup Gloryyyyyy” love this commentator
I was there with my best mate. Down the end Jonny kicked that drop goal. Amazing.
One of the best ever pieces of commentary
Still puts a lump in my throat 12 years later
I will never forget that day, one of the best days of my life. 🏴🏉🏆🥇🌹
One of my greatest sporting moments and superb commentating too. :)
A special moment, the commentary is great too.
Remember it so well....I was going wild, I was only 15/16!! Beautiful memory...
Utterly spine tingling
Jonny! England's GOAT 🔥🏴🌹
Wow... Best final ever.. 🏴
I remember listening to this in the car with my Mum and brother. As soon as Ian Robertson said those words, "He drops for World Cup glory", all the cars around us were beeping their horns in celebration!
The emotion in the commentators voices says it all.
Was 16. Was amazing then. It's even more amazing now.
I screamed even louder than Rob Andrew. I nearly cracked my head in the ceiling and I ran outside, down the street and round in circles shouting. Got some weird looks from some non rugby loving neighbors!
Still get goose bumps 17 years on
Miss Ian Robertson's Radio 5 commentary alot. He imparted such incisive knowledge and drama.
Most exciting finish, England 2003! Great caller 🎉🎉
One of those rare moments when you know and remember exactly where you were and whom you were with at the time 😀
My favourite commentary of all time
i remember headlines in a Australian picture of morning of the final with a picture of Johnny Wilkinson with headlines is that all you got....if you read or saw that it makes this even more special.
Too funny when the second commentator bursts out at 00.21 with an attempt to shout and talk at the simultaneously.
An emotional moment for the Wallabies yet a triumphant one for England Rugby.
I’m not generally prone to showing emotion but by the end of this game I was a shaking, blubbering wreck.
Right in the feels :'(
dam 26 degrees out side and i got the shivers
Remember it well, I was at the game.
I love this raw version
Anybody who thinks Ian Robertson isn't the best commentator of any sport in the world is out of their mind! So wish he hadn't retired!
I haven't heard this commentary until I write this comment.
Still gives me syphilis all these years later
I remember this well. I was wearing my blue jumper. Good times
Ahh Sister Assumpta!

AND DID THOSE FEET IN ANCIENT TIMES?
Bring me my booooow of burning Gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear o clouds unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I still watch this and think to myself, could Andre Watson have not tried harder to find some reason to punish England? There was about 100 offsides prior to this that he conveniently didn't see and yet he saw micro infringements by the England pack in the second half.....
If Wilkinson had missed then Watson was about to blow for offside.
When I get my hands on Hasbulla
It would have been fun if, when the ball was thrown to Jonny, he had gone for a crossfield kick to the right wing where Ben Cohen would have caught the ball and gone in unopposed!! There were no Australians defending the right wing. That, unfortunately, would never have happened.
I'd love to know who the 7 ponces are who voted this down. Pathetic!
I’ve watched this 1000 times
