So, as a Badlion user, IMO it really isn't that bad. But, if you want to break away: NEU, Skytils, Optifine, Patcher, Scrollable Tooltips, Odin (NOT THE CLIENT. JUST ODIN, THE GITHUB DISTINGUISHES). There's more, like Danker's and Skyhanni, and chattriggers and dungeon rooms, but i consider those above to be the "core". Prism launcher makes getting 1.8.9 forge very easy.

I have been looking for a different way to run my mods. I didn't realize there was a launcher for forge mods tho. I'll definitely look into that
