Many people are confused about the clip so here's my take on it:
The old man is a drug addict, be it hard drugs or medication abuse.
Those drugs warp his perception of reality.
The scene of him fighting off the thugs could be interpreted as him fighting off his addiction or fighting off withdrawal.
The scene of him kneeling in the snow, watching it with a smile on his face can be interpreted as him being free from the effects and aftereffects of drugs and finally coming to terms and finding comfort in reality.

They weren’t really thugs though they were security guards, I think he had a meltdown while he was listening to kids barking what they wanted for Christmas and after he exploded at them the security guards were chasing him trying to shut him down lol. Lemme attempt to understand this.
A shopping mall santa Claus suffers "bullying" from the guards. Actually, he is very often beaten up by them (maybe daily) Then the drugs come: a heavy load of pills, that made him stronger
The point in that was that he was pissed of with the agressions.
Although he become stronger, the effect of the supa whey pills altered his 5 senses. That crazy day of work was the resultado.
Finally, at the end of his turn, the big bad asses came for the beating thing.
But... tadaaa we had a boosted santa!
The ending was probally his death. The drugs probally killed him of overdosis.

The way i saw it i think he was meant to be the "real" santa (since his costume was his actual clothing and his beard was real) put into a modern times job. The drugs he got addicted to were maybe for depressions? At the end he seems sick and tired of everything.
That momment when he arrives at the mall. The guard try to hit him with is shoulder, but the santa hold his position. Thats why i think that those pills are Supa proteins. Actually, i agree with the idea of the real santa in a modern context
