- Our journey in pursuit of the American dream is filled with both challenges and triumphs. Adapting to a new culture, building a new life, and chasing our dreams-it’s not always easy, but we’re doing it together as a family. Moto is the most supportive husband in the world and my rock behind the scenes. Losing his father was incredibly difficult for him. The passing of a parent has strengthened our bond as a family and taught us something truly valuable. For Sutan, losing her grandpa was also heartbreaking. But we believe that he has now become a star, watching over us as we take on this journey.

It was a beautiful moment when Sutan asked her Dad if he was sad and she gave him a hug. There was sadness, introspection, but also positive energy in that bonding moment. It is inspiring to see in video what it means to be a family unit

My sincere condolences, Moto. My father passed away a few years back so I can relate to the loss of a father. Nice to hear that you have happy memories of him and you can take comfort in knowing that he is watching over you, Moe, and Sutan.
So glad you guys have had people here to support you guys on your journey. If you guys make it to Honolulu I'd love volunteer during one of displays at Whole Foods. I have been following Kimono Mom religiously since Sutan was around 2 years old- so it would be an immense honor to lend a hand.

@wpl8275 I have to agree there. I almost missed going to Houston to meet her. 2 hrs me and a friend drove to meet her and almost ended up being a 4hr drive for me lol. We told her about bucees and she did a short of them visiting it. New Orleans I love the food there and the cultural spots I like to visit when I go through. It's been before covid since my last trip so maybe it's time to return.
Aww... I used to live in Savannah and shopped at the Target near that Whole Foods store all the time. I live somewhere else now, so I can't visit. I will recommend going downtown to sketch in one of the squares - I'm sure there will be some students around, drawing as well. :)

Grandpa sounds like he was a wonderful man. I'm so sorry for your loss. My own parents are elderly and living in a different country (Spain), and because I am Disabled, I can't travel to see them. I am reconciled to the fact we will never physically be together again. Please give Sutan a big hug from me. She never fails to lift me up when I am feeling down.
Imagine one of your core memories as a child is spending a year travelling around the US seeing a lot of the best things this country has to offer.
Hah, I have the exact same thought. Sutan can't never get the same education, experience, and lifetime memory sitting all year long in school.
When I lost both mom and dad I was destroyed. But I'm thankful for my brother who has been the only family member who stayed by my side. He was destroyed too. It's not easy to lose someone but having those around you is the best.
It is always difficult to loose someone close, even more so when it is a family member. My sincere condolences to your family and hope that the love for each other will get your family through. 😔👍

Hearing Moto talk about his father, his memories of him! Making him proud, and wanting to say final goodbye to him, makes me miss my grandparents a lot. All of them left my life before I turned 30 years old. I miss their cooking too.
