      If you get a chance go back and check the 2004 documentary "Outfoxed" in it they warned that Murdoch's methods were dragging the rest of the media into the same business model. That's why politics in the media as well as the media's incessant need to hype stories into full frenzy mode like the A Current Affair story shown here, has become the giant maelstrom of garbage it is.

      While it might seem intuitive that their reporting had influence of what occurred on that day, it's nearly impossible to prove in court. That is hard enough to do for a single person, let alone hundreds.

      @@tadstertrolley7770 I'm not saying they didn't do that stuff - I am just saying proving it in a court of law is not at all practical. How do you prove they knew it was a lie and pushed it anyway when you can't compel them to incriminate themselves? How do you prove they knew exactly what they were doing when you can't compel them to incriminate themselves? How do you prove their intent when you can't force them to incriminate themselves? How do you prove what they did had the actual effect of inciting the riot, and the riot would not have occurred but for what they did?
      You'd basically need to have several Fox employees testify that they knew it was a lie, they knew what they were doing and did it despite knowing it could incite violence despite being under no obligation to do so, and have dozens or hundreds of phycological examinations of the participants in the riot to determine that Fox News influenced their decision to participate in the riot.
      While it may be obvious to us looking in from the outside what was going on and what they were doing, in a court you can't present as evidence "doesn't your gut tell you they played a role in the riots?" - you have to prove it with actual evidence and testimony.

    I honestly can't see how any Murdoch's reputation would have been harmed by that Crikey article. No one who thinks well of them would have been affected by that story and those who think it shows how terrible they are already thought they were terrible.
    Also, while I haven't actually read the article, on it's face, I wouldn't interpret the expression "unindicted co-conspirator" to mean that the Murdoch's sat down with Trump and hatched a plan. I would just interpret it to mean that Murdoch properties and their staff expressly tried to foment unrest that led to the Jan 6 insurrection. Can they really deny that they did that?

    • @barryaaa5909
      @barryaaa5909 2 роки тому

      Problem with today's press is it chops little clips out of everything to fit a narrative. Reporters seem to always push a bias cause of lack of information of the full story or just ignorant. Fox reacted wrong early to Jan 6 but what they wanted to resolve it was also quickly overlooked cause of left bias. Media in America is propaganda arms with no respect to the people.

    • @wunnell
      @wunnell 2 роки тому

      @@barryaaa5909 , major media outlets aren't great but I do have some sympathy for them. They are trying to compete many smaller outlets on the web that have taken their audience. Some of those smaller outlets have scruples but many don't, so the major outlets have lowered their own standards to compete.
      With regards to Fox News, some of their actual news coverage is OK and non-partisan but it's all the high-profile opinion shows masquerading as news that are the problem, e.g. Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, et al. It's not just how these people responded to what happened on Jan 6 but that they incited it in the first place. They kept repeating, as fact, claims that were speculation at best and outright lies at worst. If those who kept claiming that the election was rigged had the evidence they claimed they did then it would have been presented to a court and appropriate steps would have been taken. Why actually happened was that any time any so-called evidence was presented it was thrown out of court and no requested recounts should anything out of the ordinary. The concerns that Republican voters had about the election didn't warrant being addressed because they were based on fabrications by Fox News and others both before and after the insurrection.

David had a sling and based on what they function like, shepherds mostly using them to protect sheep, are the closest we had then to a gun. For the first story - While the land is in freehold, it's still under Australian sovereignty, and so subject to Australian law and import/export regulations.
    I suspect a fleet of fighter jets might, just might, be against the gun laws. Likewise they couldn't use it as an anchorage for Chinese military vessels because said military vessels would be violating Australian waters.
    Of course, in this case we couldn't do the reverse (have the Australian government buy land under Chinese sovereignty), as private land ownership is not a thing in China. But it wouldn't matter anyway, as Australia is likewise not free to park Australian military assets on land under Chinese sovereignty.
    There is SOME reason for Australia to buy the islands, just to avoid the hassle of enforcing those laws on the islands, but there's a fair-to-middling chance they'll all be underwater in another century anyway.
