Just a tip, not complaining about the UI, but from my own experience it is well worth it to get an hour or two from a UX expert just get some perspectives on it. Was an eye-opener to me, especially since one quickly gets tunnel vision about those things.
@@SailingSisu What I realized when I did that was that I shouldn't give advice on UI design. 🙂 But try to get user feedback as early and as ruthless (from them) as possible. So don't try to do perfect from any regard, just get it out there. It doesn't replace the professional opinion, but is equally as important.
@@SailingSisu Looking around, I would add a help page that explains the concepts of the app, how you think it is supposed to be used. And things like schedule views, or perhaps better, integrate with the calendar, and so on. What is in each upgrade is also a little bit confusing as it is not separated. Those are things an expert can help you think about how to build and manage. (UX is not only about the visuals, but usability and so on)
The biggest fear for sailors, are not big seas, or sharks, or sinking, it is lightning. One can do absolutely nothing about it. In my previous life, I was a Telemetry Electronic Engineer and once you realise that that energy bolt travelled 1,000m to your puny 10cm lightning protection stuff, you know when Nature comes calling...
Ahoy, dear viewers! We're alive, kicking, and still riding the waves of the sailing life. But hey, turns out, making videos isn't just about sailing smoothly through the seas; it's about dodging the expenses of fancy equipment and the whirlpool of time it sucks up! We didn't want to sound like broken records, constantly chanting 'Become our Patreon!' while waving a pirate flag. Plus, relying solely on viewers to spread the word without giving them a nudge felt a bit like expecting a ship to sail without wind. So, we're adjusting our sails and focusing on ways to keep the ship afloat without leaving you high and dry. Stay tuned, mateys!
Hi Guys. I hope you both are doing OK as well as Sisu - seems things have been a bit iffy wearherwise ? 🤔❤ Best Wishes, Fair Winds and Safe Travels. Bob. 🌟🌟❤️
Ahoy, mates! While we're still alive and kicking (and sailing), our video-making ship hit a bit of a squall. You see, capturing our adventures is like trying to lasso a wild sea serpent - expensive and time-consuming! We've been avoiding the plank of asking ye to fork over doubloons on Patreon, which nowadays seems as popular as a leaky boat. So, we've decided to swab the decks and focus on other ways to keep the rum flowing. Stay tuned, we'll be back with more tales from the high seas soon!
@@SailingSisu Phew thanks for the update ! With some of the Mr Weatherman forecasts looking really iffy, I was starting to wonder. Sadly I’m still almost as penniless as prior, though my small amount of Silver Bullion could increase in value a lot by year end, or I’d be able to help chip in towards a Camera. Still recovering fast from Respiratory Failure and Heart Failure though, Best wishes and Safe Travels. Bob. 👍🌟🌟🌟❤️🏴🇬🇧
Hi Frik, that was quite a journey and aside from a few minor mishaps, I'd say it went just as well as it could have and your video's of the trip I thought provided us with as much detail as we could have asked for,. Especially with the navigation/charting shots.... I'm curious as to where the water was getting into the bilges of both hulls and hope it was an easy fix. Thanks
Peter, first thank you for the kind comment! As for the water ingress...I never got down to exact reason since it only happens when we are in rough seas...but, I tightened the bolts on the Bob Stays and did not see any ingress. But that said, I also very recently discovered rust marks below my forward peak hatches' "breathing" openings, those black round things on the windows, and I noticed a lot of salt crystals around the walls of the inside peak. So, it might be another point of water ingress since the bows were awash constantly...
PS. Just a thought, why not use the phone camera to tide you over? For example, the pictures my sister took with her iPhone 14 of the Northern Lights Auroras were simply stunning and few nights ago. Best wishes. Bob. ❤
@@SailingSisu Well just wondering if the phone cameras you have, that came with the phone, would be good enough to tide you over for a little while? I bet it’s not just me that misses seeing you both? Best wishes, and Safe travels. Bob.🤔🌟🌟🌟👍❤️
The word "tide" is throwing me but I think I get your accent now The video quality is good, but since we are almost always in the wind, the sound will be awful.
Ahoy, mates! While we're still riding the waves of the sailing life and enjoying every splash of it, let's talk about why our videos have been as elusive as a mermaid lately. You see, capturing the magic of the sea requires some serious treasure, and our video equipment demanded more gold than a dragon's hoard. And as much as we love you all, we didn't want to turn into video-pushing pirates, or worse, beggars on the dock. So, we're setting sail on a new course, focusing on ways to keep our ship afloat while still bringing you the adventures you crave. Stay tuned, we're plotting some exciting new voyages!

Where the line broke up front on the canvas: try tying a knot above and below every 5th hole. Then the line will likely only rip a few holes. 😅
Thank you, very sound advice!
