    Great video and channel. I like that you’re staying in session view here as most other channels stick to arrangement view only

    Great tutorial. Although there are other good channel i really can see why it's called Academy. Everything is explained so thoroughly and good. Compression concept is finally understood for me by this quick demonstration 6:10 ( To see what your hear is very helpful to understand what your hear). Compressor at 7:01, 9:24 and EQ at 10:00 are really teach how to improve the bass to get the Pro fat bass in few simple steps! Keep doing this short and thoroughly tutorials!

    Nice tutorial bro, however I was told the general rule for kick and bass was that the bass should be about 5 db lower than the kick. Now I wonder if that applies here as well or for more subby basslines?

    • @MelodicTechnoAcademy
      @MelodicTechnoAcademy  2 роки тому +6

      Thank you! It generally depends on how important the bassline is for your track. In this example of modern, driving Melodic Techno its very important. So -5db would we way too low and too far in the background. For minimal tracks -5db could work :)

    • @Loneranger670
      @Loneranger670 Рік тому +1

      Another tequnique is to crop the tail of each kick and only drop bass to -2 db below the kick. This will allow more “boom” to come through from the bass as it won’t be clashing. With the “boom” created by a kick tail.

    Hi, thanks for a great tutorial. I don't understand how the decapitator distortion compresses the signal. Can you please explain? Why not a compressor?

    • @Gino_567
      @Gino_567 Рік тому

      You can use lots of different tools to compress a signal.
      You could saturate it, use distortion, or, use a compressor like you said. Just depends on what you want to do with the sound.
      Sometimes I like to add a bit of grit or colour to the sound instead of just squashing it. So I use saturation. Sometimes I want to just reduce the dynamics, and make it more level. So I use compression. :)

  • @siprturo
    @siprturo Рік тому

    If I am to do these steps with stock plugins - Is there any way I can see the peak levels without fab filter? And what's the best alternative for decapitator?

    What is the difference between melodic house and melodic techno?

  • @chrismueller85
    @chrismueller85 2 роки тому

    High quality content as always! Perfect! Another question: You apply Delay and Reverb also to the lower frequencies. Wouldn't it be better to do a low cut inside the delay and reverb effect to avoid muddiness and allow more space for other elements? What's you recommendation?

    • @MelodicTechnoAcademy
      @MelodicTechnoAcademy  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! Yes you can do that for a cleaner mix. In general you don't wanna have too much sub frequencies in the stereo field. In this video we added a centered delay and just a very minimal amount of stereo reverb, that shouldn't be a problem :)
