Steve, would you please post a list of all parts needed to purchase and setup a dental drill. I looked on Amazon and Google and found little other than they are either a 2 hole or 4 hole version. How did you hook it up to your compressor? Love to try carving.
Glenn Thanks, I really appreciate the comments. Do an Ebay search for "nsk pana max 4 hole". That's the one I use and you should be able to find one for less than 15 bucks. I normally buy 3 or 4 at a time as I consider them disposable. On youtube, do a search for "piercing on the cheap" Captain Eddie has a video and Denton turners have one as well. Those two videos will give you all the information you need to get started.
Very good! Always wondered how you guys are doing this... does that dental drill thingy connects to a dremel? What is the power behind the machine?? :) Yuval.
Yuval, thanks for watching and commenting! There are a couple videos that tell how to get started, just do a youtube search for "piercing on the cheap". Captain has a video and Denton turners also have one. I have been asked a few times to do a video showing my setup and am editing it now I want to redo a couple spots. Hopefully I'll get it posted in a few days. In the meantime, they are powered by an air compressor, it doesn't have to be a huge one, a 1 hp should work fine. I'll have more info in the video. Steve
Hi Kris, thanks for watching. The burs are carbide and last for quite a while and I can easily do one or more of these platters with one. These platters are soft maple, a harder wood might be a different story.
Awesome work Steve, a beautiful platter ! All the best, Jim
Hi Jim. Thanks, I appreciate that you watched and commented. Knowing the work you do makes me appreciate it even more.

That looks like fun; so did you do the whole thing with just one drill bit, or did you need several?
