Nice job Shea... I am getting more and more accustomed to your runthroughs...right brain left brain did a very good job thinking out loud for me in this one! Thanks
i think it looks great, though i'm only going from shea's video. re: my passing on covering it, this was the post from the designer that talked me out of it: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2588801/article/36861385#36861385 :)
oh, mosaic, definitely, but it's quicker, and there's MUCH less player vs plyaer conflict, so both of those are a better fit for us (plus it's gorgeous, which doesn't hurt)
To be honest, I haven't played Through the Ages, but from what I've seen of it, I think I'd say Mosaic. I like the idea of TTA but the admin involved looks pretty daunting. This may have a long set up, but once that's done it's a breeze to play through.
The biggest change with player count is where the empire scoring cards are placed and how many cards are put in the tax/tariff and population decks. I liked it a lot at two, though I do feel like it's a bit better at around four.
27:53 Right-brain is spending left-brain’s money and generating his production for him... Or maybe the camera is just still on right-brain when it is left-brain’s turn ??
@@rahdo But using mini's for tracking resources is probably the most extreme sign of bloatware I have seen. When it's mini's on a map having combat, sure. but a resource tracker...
@@monkeyunit4533 not sure what the difference is. dudes on a map games can be much smaller footprints if they're all cubes, same for resource tracking. good enough for one, good enough for the other, if that's what pub wants to do to have a more "fun" presentation :)
@@rahdo Personally for me the difference is functionality. Dudes on a map, it helps see different troop types and help with the immersion in a game. Having a standing figure track income seems like an unneeded risk of falling over andlosing track, as well as making the player board 4x as large as they need to be. But hey, if it helps them market their game all is fair.
@@monkeyunit4533 Maybe they will offer a mini player board as an optional add-on / stretch goal addition. They do look a bit large for my liking and I would be okay with something half the size

Thanks so much for this playthrough. It was very helpful and got me right into trying it on Tabletopia.
Plot twist! Right brain and left brain belong to.. JEN!!!
Seriously, nice run-through, I will have to watch the final thoughts :)
Wow! I am surprised that Rahdo didn’t want to cover this - as it doesn’t seem to have much conflict! Richard, can you say what you think of this game?

@@rahdo Ah, gotcha. Thank you.
Okay so, tough question (maybe): Would you rather play Mosaic or Through the Ages?

@@rahdo sorry, which is faster, better to look at, with less PvP conflict? Mosaic?
@@megashub correct, mosaic! :) (that was a poorly worded sentence on my part... no idea why i put a 'but' in there!)

@@rahdo TTA does have a couple of non player vs player conflict variants in the actual rulebook
Place 5 or 10 coins on city cards in the build row at the top so you can’t forget them.
good thinking! :)
How does the player scaling work in the game, and is it good at two?

he just forgot to move the camera... everything he did was correct
At the 28:00 mark Shea spent 10 coins from Left Brain when it was Right Brain's turn. I think he made a mistake here.
It was Left's turn, I just forgot to switch the camera over. Sorry about that.
Those player board seem unnecessarily large for mostly tracking 5 production values.
people like mins, so if you're tracking resources with them (instead of a cube) your board is going to get big :)

7:00 place new city without rules just break game for me. No need to see the rest, this is major flaw that spoil whole the game.
I think the player boards are way too big! If you want to play on the full player count of six, it looks like you need a lot of space...

13:11 Ok... So how can you get science?
18:31 (& 12:03) Well, I guess that answers my question...
