first time making rice on a stove because we just moved out of our house, followed this to a T and it turned out perfect!!! the rice was so much more fluffy than when using a rice cooker! thanks so much!
@@StayNutty Hang in there, it's never too late! You're not alone- every cooking lesson and/or cooking instructions I've ever received in my life has been from youtube. I really enjoyed this video. I used to hate cooking rice because it always turns out gummy looking and I don’t know how long it takes for the water to boil out nor if the rice is completely done. Thanks to you, my rice turns out to be much better than before. Thank you! 😊🙏❤
A lot of white rice in US are 1 cup rice 2 cups water. Also if you have a very tight fitting lid with no vent it will be less messy to put lid like how she did or stick a toothpick in between lid. When lid is tight the pressure will build inside and it’ll splatter onto stovetop if not vented. Hope this helps as well.
Thank you so much for the step by step explanation. It was easy to follow and my rice looks a lot like yours looks at the end. Edit: it turned out super yummy
Soak rice for 30 mins. Drain water off. Put in pan. Same amount of water above rice eg 2 inches of rice, 2 inches of water above rice. Bring to boil and simmer on lowest light possible for 9 mins with lid on. Take off heat take off lid, fluff up with fork. Eat.
Thank you this was extremely helpful! Ive gotten into my late teens and need to start cooking for myself and my family since everyone else is so busy !
I followed the directions on my rice bag perfectly today and it was 1rice:2water for 20 minutes... It came out as mush. I couldn't eat it! 🤢 I will try 1:1 next time!
@@jharris7 it's one to one only on fast white rice, full grain needs one and a quarter water to one portion of rice. And it's very important to wash the rice when using this method.

I think anyone who eats rice daily can make it better than Jamie Oliver. You’re the best.
That's for sure
Why did you decide that?)))
How is this related?🤣

You need to stir the rice after it’s done in the cooker in a way that won’t crush the grain.
It’s a knowledge problem, not a cooker problem.
I am 45 years old and I just bought rice for the first time in my life, and this is my first time cooking it. Thank you so much for your video.
I felt guilty being 32 and doing this now. Thanks for the honestly lol we learning
And also to not get your rice to stick as you can see rinsing the rice only , your supposed to also put more water in the pan than rice
@@DIYcrochetDesigns lol half of my rice stuck and I felt like a lose lol thank you. I’m fairly successful in life but extremely cooking challenged.

1 to 1 ratio leave lid off a bit so it can breathe Somehow that keeps in a lot of moisture After its done replace the lid fully for 5 to 10 mins
dont forget to remove from heat when putting the lid back on
Thank you for this! I want to learn how to cook rice with a pot in case our rice cooker is damaged or broken.

I added about 1/2 - 1 tsp coconut oil. lt helped w/flavor & no sticking, after it cooled. Thanks much!
when did you add the oil? i wanna try what you did 😭
@@sebaceousgland5123 you can add it after if you want, but butter, salt, or any flavorings are usually added at the very start

why soak the rice?
Do I need to but butter?
@Amy-hi nothing to be added. I sometimes add turmeric to the pan to colour the rice for curry.

I use exactly twice as much water as rice and it get perfect every time.
Any tip so the rice doesn't stick on the bottom of the pot?
No
You cant
Wash the rice more and use lower heat after boiling.
by the time my rice has boiled its already stuck to the bottom i just scrape it all off and stir well then simmer and it works for me
Ratio is always two to one. Like 1 and a half. Now I'm trying it your way. Great video. Narration so soothing. 🙏💛🤳
