What he is saying is 100% true. We think because we're coming to Ghana with Dollars, Euros, and Pounds so we are "above the law"...and that is wrong. We have to respect our Ghanaian Police Officers. You respect white police officers that don't even like you because you are black and immigrant in America..... but you don't want to give our own Ghanaian Officers that actually love us that same respect......that is wrong.....I'm actually happy when a Ghanaian Police officer stops me because I know they won't worry me too much....Those American and UK police officers will ticket you and nail you to the cross. Those American and UK police will destroy your driving record if you make a small mistake. Mistake kakra na ya ma wo ticket...hmm.

Because bribery and corruption is the norm in Ghana, every civil servant is taking bribes. The police takes bribes, immigration officers take bribes and issue passports to Nigerians. The bribery and corruption is every where, that is why people try it, the law is not enforced against ministers or politicians. So its lawless in a way. The reason why people son't try it in the US or Europe, is because nobody is above the law. Politicians, Rich people, celebrities and even royals are arrested for the same thing. So when we are able to get to a place when the bribery stops and nobody is above the law, then the country would be better. Ghanaians coming from abroad are not the ones bringing bribery and corruption to us, we are the ones living the lifestyle of bribery and corruption as normal. And politicians stealing, taking bribes and embezzling without being arrested, going to jail or resigning.

Agyapong reminds me of my dad, who used to tell us that there will never be a day he will go to plead with another man on our behalf or beg for favours on our behalf. That we must toughen up and face life singlehandedly. He is late now, and his words prepared me for the battles I have faced in life.

We use the "know it all" phrase as a cudgel for beating the creativity out of the youth. Allow the kids to express themselves. Teens all over the world have an edge, you do not shame them, you harness it. We cannot deal with confidence in our youth, we mislabel it as "know it all" it is the older generation that suffers from that syndrome, not the kids.

I was angry, I got out and confronted the officer and asked him to fix the gutters (that was my big mistake) he lost it! He called other officers (probably 5 officers) and they literally dragged me in the middle of circle into a squad vehicle and took me to jail! I was in there for a few hours, lucky for me my brother had connections.

Also forcing your ideas on anyone causing unnecessary stress and complexity. A teacher must always find a way to get their message across without causing others to feel less or stupid. You should observe the westerner you speak of and how they relate when they are in Ghana versus a Ghanaian diaspora in Ghana and you will quickly understand why the typical westerner is able to sell his ideas better than ‘us’. 🇺🇲 is a near-death experience for any Black person arrested while driving can potentially without cause be murdered by the police contriving any false excuse to evade punishment- it's not the same in Ghana. and it's a very coooonish response to say that you would not rescue a family member in name of the law- whites / Europeans are ahead because they do hand each other up in every situation🙄 it's embarrassing that he thinks he's being honorable justifying 2 not help

Hi Dentaa, the mere fact that this government official admitted his son told the police who he was and called to have them speak directly to him goes to show what’s wrong with Ghana. That would not be possible in the US. I’m sorry to say that your guess has no knowledge of US laws and it would do him so good to talk on issues he’s well versed on.

I guess you haven't heard of the Hunter Biden Laptop saga then huh. Corruption is everywhere in the world in every society. Its just that it is on a different level in different countries. As a public servant in the western world i know whilst it is not brazen....i do have better access to certain things than private workers! Its all part of the corruption...just some are covert and others are overt! Plus in Ghana its very prevelant..thats all!

As if Mr. Kennedy Agyeapong in in my head. There is some kind of arrogance in the Ghanaians in the diaspora, They think that they are smart because they have seen some better roads, nicer buildings and better system. They think those living in the country are dumb and corrupt and that's why we are he way we are. Omu Gyimia bi, even the common pure water seller in the country is contributing to the economy than you living in someone else's country and paying taxes for them rather.

You get what you pay for. My brother-in-law was a naval officer and served in the Rawlings regime. I remember having an idle conversation with him on one of my numerous visits to Ghana. I asked him why they do not recruit qualified professionals to assist in rebuilding our institutions. His response was astonishing. "Why should they suffer and build the country and then let us come and enjoy the fruits of their efforts?" The reason Ghana has retrogressed even beyond the Nkrumah years is because of attitudes that do not reflect national pride. Our decision making should always promote patriotism, a ceaseless reach for the national good. Ghanaians tend to couch every reaction in personal terms, and it is never about the country's welfare. In all of Kennedy's garrulousness, not once did I hear him address our national interests. Ghana is not important, only his businesses take precedence. If our leaders do not uphold the need for patriotism, why should the ordinary citizen? And if patriotism is not in our hearts, how do we build a country that we can all be proud of? With such a mindset, does it surprise anyone that the country is in such dire straits?

Let's bing Africa together as one not nit picking separate occurrences amongst a random people and make it seem it's a diasporan mindset.
