Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks are the NBA’s wildcard contender. The Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving tandem is in full swing and after a regular season full of uncertainties and roster changes, the Mavs are definitely looking like NBA championship contenders towards the end stretch. The Western Conference has been very tough but the Dallas Mavericks have made their moves during the tradeline by acquiring big man Daniel Gafford and versatile forward PJ Washington and now, the Mavs have a formidable line-up that can match any team in the NBA playoffs. Luka Doncic is a legitimate MVP contender, Kyrie Irving has been amazing, Dereck Lively has been an amazing rookie, while offseason finds Derrick Jones Jr. and Dante Exum have been great for the Mavs.
But the question here is, can Coach Jason Kidd find the right rotations in the playoffs for the Mavs to beat teams such as Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the OKC Thunder, Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves, or Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns? Luka Doncic has been averaging career-highs across the board, while the Kyrie Irving game-winner comes just at the right time. But who will step up for the Dallas Mavericks in the postseason and why are they the biggest wildcard contenders in the NBA?

Everytime Denver plays Mavs, it’s really close. Mavs even won the last game. They have a chance

The Clippers are the worst match up for Dallas in the West. That would be a "slobber knocker".
Not worried about the Clippers. I like that match up. They are certified chokers and it took them 7 games to beat Luka before. I know how healthy Kawhi is scary in the playoffs but with this roster especially with Kyrie, I don't think they can beat them in a 7 game series.
We only lost this many games in the first half of the season because of injuries. If anyone watched we were hurt all year. We have finally had consistency and we are still 41-29. We are lethal when healthy

We actually lost those 5 games after the trade deadline because Kidd started using an experimental defensive scheme with the 5th guy on defense always double teamming. Off course this was horrible and led to a historically bad defense for those 5 games until we stopped using it after the first quarter in the heat game.
He also played Gafford only like 10 minutes per game in that stretch and after the Heat game he has been starting him like he should. Since then we have won 7 out of 8 games and the only one we lost was the one Luka was out vs the Thunder. Even in that game we kept it close without Luka and Green is still out who is our 3rd best shooter.
I really like this year’s Timberwolves, but I would love to see a Mavs - Nuggets western final.
God that would be fun. That's what I'm hoping for too. Every game would be tight and probably go to 7.

Luka is 1st in scoring not second. Embiid hasn’t played enough to count in a long time and won’t be eligible.
Mavs need minutes together, Luka kept this team afloat before the health started getting better and of course the trades. Now it’s all about chemistry which looks pretty good with the limited time they’ve had. Kidd fixed his issue from two weeks ago and things are looking up.

Bro, Kleber is trash as a stretch 5, he's a backup 4 at best, that's why we had that stretch where we lost 5 of our 6 games when Kidd benched and limited Gafford at sticked to his stupid smallball lineup. He kinda realized it when the fans are just angry on why we traded for PJ and Big Dan if he's still going to use that BS lineup before the deadline, now were 9-1 when Gafford starts
The coach will be the key what types of play coach kid will design what system they do. No matter how great is your players but if the system is weak still it's a failure.
thj is the only negative on this team. imagine if they had one of bruce brown, jordan clarkson, caruso or even patbev instead of him coming off the bench.. hell i'd even take reggie bullock back to replace him next season.
The Mavs made it to the WCF in 2022 and THJ was out with a broken foot. Just bench him already.

Timberwolves are so bad at late game execution. Now without Kat, they’re going to suffer in their scoring. Rudy Golbert is going to be unplayable as well when small ball takes effect.
