RJ’s emotionless face in that end scene makes Carl’s acting look god tier. People hated Chandler Riggs for his “acting” and being a “Whiney kid” which is part of his character. I bet people take it back now and miss Carl. Always loved Carl and it sucked so bad the way he got killed off.

And yes I do think that this scene is like it is because the kid is not a good actor, but given the situation I think it worked great that it looked like he barely understood the importance that Rick has for his "family".
How was he supposed to act to a strange man he's never met lol? His acting still isn't good but he wouldn't be showing a bunch of emotions here anyways. Chandler even said his acting wasn't the best on this show and I really don't miss him at all. I do hate how his last bit of story made absolutely no sense. He went from wanting to kill Negan in a bad way at the end of season 7 to wanting to spare everyone at the beginning of season 8 which was only a few days apart from each other.. so I guess anyone's acting wouldn't be top tier when they don't know how they're supposed to be.

This is end of Rick's story. Danai, and Andrew both came back to conclude his story, he found his family it's a full circle climax. The Ones Who Live takes place in 2022, and Daryl Dixon takes place at the same time as Rick's return which is in 2022, so Daryl Dixon takes place in the same year, Carol finds Daryl and they both inevitably return home before 2022. Dead City takes place 6 years after THE ONES WHO LIVE in 2028. Rick has been living happily with his family in Virginia for 6 years when Negan and Maggie arrive in New York. Once, that spin-off ends all of the stories of the characters who are still alive from the original show have been told. I personally believe that Negan will finally be forgiven by Maggie, but he will lose his life in a sacrifice play to save Hershel or Maggie.

I want Rick to learn about Negan and how he saved Judith and everyone else. I don't know if we'll ever get that, but what a scene seeing Rick and Negan meet up would be.
That show should've not wrapped up that quickly in my opinion. I have so many problems with it. Rick is a total stranger to RJ, Michonne told him about his "dad" but that was pretty much it.
Even what he got from Judith was mostly legends because when he vanished Judith was barely old enough to really remember him.
