@4seven11 that would be traditional afro-surinamese music, as I am sure the original inhabitants of Suriname have their own indigenous music. The indo-surinamese also have their traditional music too.
hoe zit ht nu met d band,,,zijn ze er nog,,,over gestapt naar andere bandjes,,en hoe gaat het nu met Lucien Misiedjan,,niks meer van hem gehoordt qua muziek,,leef die nog>???
Suriname is part of the United States of Afrika!!!! It was the Afrikan, Black people that worked blood, sweat and tears to build the country of Suriname. Making it a Afrikan country. Never forget that!!!
James Noone You’re right, but African music, dress, traditions, spirit, culture, way of life have been preserved. The location is Suriname, South Africa, but the roots are truly African, no?!?!
Afusensi literally means "half cent". In the early days of the country Suriname a half cent was literally the smallest monetary unit/ coin. Because of that they made an odo or saying: Mi na Afusensi, no wan man kan broko mi, as in I am a half cent, you can't break my (any further). So basically by saying you're an Afusensi you're saying you're unbreakable.
