- Neither side was able to create any clear cut opportunities in a draw that keeps the situation at the top of the table very close.
Gabriel Jesus had a couple of half chances in the first half, and Leandro Trossard was denied late on, before Manchester City finished the game strongly. In the end we held on for our first point away to City since 2016, and stopped the hosts scoring at home for the first time in 57 games.
The hosts started quickly, and looked to pin us back in the opening exchanges, but it was Jesus, making his first start since January, who had the first half chance. Ben White’s deep cross was too high for Kai Havertz, but Jesus chested down before scuffing his shot just wide of the near post.
Nathan Ake had a close-range header from a corner saved on the line by David Raya, and City continued to dominate possession in our half.
Jesus, who started on the left, had our next chance. Martin Odegaard was able to orchestrate in the middle of the pitch, and the ball fell to Jakub Kiwior inside the area. He laid it off to Jesus just inside the D who shifted past the defender, but shot wide.
At the other end Erling Haaland got his head to a dangerous looking cross late in the half, but could only direct it wide under pressure from Gabriel and Kiwior.
But overall it was a fairly cautious first 45 minutes from both sides, and whereas City enjoyed more possession, in terms of chances there was nothing between the sides.
Mateo Kovacic sent a long-range effort wide early after the restart before we looked to raise the tempo. Odegaard was leading the way, and released Bukayo Saka inside the area. His low cross went all the way through the six-yard box, and just ahead of the sliding Jesus, who would have had a tap in at the far post.
Pep Guardiola introduced Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku for the last half hour, and Mikel Arteta responded by bringing on both Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
We had to defend in numbers inside our own box as the game entered the final 15 minutes, making a succession of blocks and half clearances. It was all hands to the pump.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard came on to provide fresh legs on the flanks. Both subs had chances. Martinelli had a shot blocked inside the box after more good work from Odegaard while Haaland miskicked at the far post from a City corner as the tension rose. Then Trossard broke through and forced a save from Ortega with five minutes left after beating the offside trap.
The hosts finished strongly, but in the end we took a point that ends our eight-game winning streak, but keeps us just ahead of the Champions in the standings.

Nice way to think , some other day i would agree ,but tossard did right this time, gabriel j should had pass back the ball hee need to see these clips of the game ,how 2 or 3 player are free behind him while he can't get forward and force a shoot ,it would benefite the team and him.

Arsenal taking 4 points off Man City this season shows how much this team has grown and improved over the past year. A draw is not a bad result as along as we win the other remaining games.

yeh he looked so much better than the few minutes he got previously before the international break. He looked sharp and some great passes and turns to get out of Citys press. He's more athlete and physical than Jorgi too, hopefully he gets a start against Luton to get some proper match fitness in his legs.

Saliba won the MOTM award at Anfield and Etihad and he’s ONLY 23 years old. Going to retire as one of the best center back ever. He’s Top 2 defender in the world with Van Dijk, Gabriel is 3rd for me.

We have finally come of age. That was a mature top class performance. We can now compete with City, Liverpool
We have seriously progressed under Arteta. From losing to Man City at the Etihad 7 years in a row, to being disappointed with a draw at the Etihad.
Arteta changed all of our lives and we will be forever grateful for it. Took us back to the highest level when we were in our worst times ever

Saka played a brilliant cross but as usual Jesus' positioning is poor and he couldn't get on the end of it. Trossard should have played Martinelli in as well, awful decision he made. But overall great performance and a draw against City isn't bad at all. We move!

MC controlled the ball more than 70% but had almost no chances to shoot at goal.. On the contrary, Arsenal had at least 2 chances to score, both of which they missed..88' Trossard should have passed to Martinelli to score ...In a match like this, coordinating with your teammates is the best way to ensure victory.

What happened in this game?
70% possesion by City with frustrating slow build up
Arsenal players were like 10 yo in strength
Arsenal showed the best defensive display in entire of their history!
Let's analyse players :
Saka, Jesus were busy on pressing
Kai was played like Target man, tired to receive more long balls but unlucky
Jesus missed a great chance from Saka's low cross because he couldn't run fast to reach the spot from his defensive duty.
Trossard came in as the substitute for Jesus and one shot on target. His dribbling 1 on 1 is something special.
Martinelli no impact as a late substitute.
Odegaard created fewer chances, surely he was awful because of the pressure but 2 golden chances he created.
Rice and Jorgingo no impact from them only played well for defensive and holding the ball.
White, Kiwior, Saliba, Gabriel, remarkable defence, extreme pressure though handled it well.
Tomiyasu in substitution, genuinely he was terrible at passing but later played good only on defensive duty.
Raya was class performance. So many sweeping from him. Commanded the teammates to go up further and long balls but it was descent nothing impactful.
Partey was playing ok.
Overwhelming pressure, poor refereeing (Rodri must recieved atleast yellow), City's mind games by slow tempo, City fans' frustrating booing......
Arsenal somewhat handled all these with great professionalism❤❤
My personal suggestion :
Arteta should have included Martinelli instead of Jesus
Instead of Partey, Viera should've been given chance because he's exceptional at creativity and passing
Arsenal were quicker in attack, slow tempo might been better except the counter attacks
Passing from the back by Raya should be avoided, it was ineffective
Players need to be signed:
For centre forward - Bowen as rotation (Kai should be the number 9)
For CDM - Onana from Everton as rotation for Rice
For Central midfield along with Odegaard - Tielsman
Please offload Jorghino, Elneny, Soares, Nelson, Nketiah, Jesus
Possible better starting 11 be :
Cf - Kai Havertz
Lw - Martinelli
Rw - Saka
Rcm - Odegard
CDM - Rice
Lcm - need a proper box to box player (Tielsman)
Rb - White
Lb - Zonchenko
Cbs - Gabriel and Saliba
Gk - Raya
For rotation :
Centre forward - need a proper player (Bowen)
Lw - Trossard
Rw - Marquinhos
Cm - Viera
Cm - Rowe or let him leave
Cdm - Need a proper player ( Onana)
Lb - Tierney
Rb - Tomiyasu
Gk - Ramsdale (he's most probably leaving after Arteta's cruelty on him curbing his chances)
Probably it may cost 150 million pounds to sign these 3 recommended players
Arteta must often rotate the squad; give more descent chances for Viera, Rowe, Ramasdale.

Haverts role was to play against low block teams. The first front three will always be martinelli,saka and jesus .Rice stamina was low, Saka was invisible(i didn't even see him on the pitch).Partey seems like he still hasn't healed. Jorginho has to put in some strength.That's all.

The more I watch him, the more I can see why Guardiola eventually played Jesus off the bench at Man City. The longer he stays on the pitch, the poorer his game gets. I hope Arteta only played him yesterday because Martinelli wasn't fully fit and Trossard was feeling the effect of international duty.
